Carpe Diem Mini Art Quilt |
She adds, “My name is Kajsa Wikman, I am a mother of two and I run a small business called syko (based in Turku, Finland). I sell my creations in my etsy shop http://syko.etsy.com. I have gone through a long process of allowing myself to change careers to become a full-time crafter, a long-time dream. The bird quilts (I made a few in the same spirit) are reflections of this. But I guess most of us need to remind ourselves every now and then to seize the day.”

I love(!!) this one!
So simple and so elegant! I love it! Happy Valentine’s Day!
I love the idea of using vintage linens and the birdie is too adorable.
WOW! I’m amzed that the cage and words are done freehand by machine. Adorable!
Beautiful…I love the items in her shop!
Quilting gone “green”…everyday I am being inspired to think outside the box…Thanks!
“The cage and text is done freehand by machine” WOW! Talk about talent! I think if I tried to freehand anything with my machine, it would turn into a mess of crooked lines that resembled… well, a mess of crooked lines. Gorgeous- love her idea here with the free bird.
Wow — Beautiful quilt! I love art quilts, and your’s is simply wonderful — I may have to try one like it!
Love the little bird!
I’m totally in love with Kajsa’s work! Wonderful to see it on your blog today!
what a cute little bird! its always refreshing for me to be reminded that quilting doesn’t have to be just straight lines…
This is absolutely lovely!
Thank you for sharing with us. I love your bird quilts. So sweet. I also love the fabric in the bottom left corner of Carpe Diem. Collecting fabric with text is a hobby of mine, but I never know how to use it in a quilt.
This is absolutely stunning. So inspiring!
I had experimented in the past with freehand writing, but this little quilt is fabulous. I suppose it takes a lot of practice to write with your machine ;o)
Great quilt!
Beautiful!

So fantastic!! And do check out her blog: such fun & wonderful work!!
It’s delightful! I love that bird – and to think that you did so much of it freehand. That’s a gift!

What a great quilt! I love to see how the art form of quilting has changed.
So cute! Love the little birdie and the newsprint fabric. And the freehand stitching…Wow…I’ve tried that before and it’s not easy to do! Very impressive.
Not only talented, but also a smart woman!
i can’t believe she sewed the cage by machine!
Wow! So many beautiful quilts
Very cute!
Different whimsical quilt – love the little red birdie.
What a cute quilt! The bird is adorable.
This is a beautiful piece! I do so love that you work with things that had a former life and give them a new one-I tend to do that a lot, too. So happy that you are successful in being a fulltime crafter-you encourage me!
