Kim spent about a week working approximately an hour or so hand-finishing the binding. See the pieces here and the unfinished top here. She adds that there are quite a few more Plain Spoken quilts in her Modern Quilt-Along group (fair warning: you can get happily lost over there for a very long time!).

Such beautiful colors – and what a simple and elegant design. Wonderful!
I love how a quilt that doesn’t have a complicated design can be so stunning! Good job!
I love the bright colours!
I love all the colors in this quilt.
So pretty! Love the plain spoken pattern. What a labor of love!
what a beautiful quilt!
Lovely, lovely, lovely!!
That is one of my favorite quilts so far! If it lived at my house, I would giggle a little every time I went into the room where it was! YUMMY!!
Lovely quilt!
I love the contrast of the different families of bright, cheery colors! Gorgeous.
Beautiful quilt. Love the pattern of the alternating width of stripes…would really love to see it in some different fabrics. Will have to go look at her quilt-along group…
These colors are so bold and pretty…Keep ‘em comin’ !!
So pretty! I love the bright colors, and the use of black in the quilt. Very modern. The actual quilting is the only thing that has stopped me from making anything bigger than a baby quilt. Maybe I should look into this professional quilting!
What a beautiful quilt! Kim’s blog is very inspiring!
I love it! It’s so vivid and so simple. I can also imagine it with tons of busy busy prints in bright colors or antique looking florals – the possibilities are endless. Thanks for the inspiration!
I love it’s simplicity! It’s so modern and yet so retro at the same time, brings back fond memories of childhood!
Looks scrappy, but not quite. Nice look, in any case.
Its gorgeous. What a masterpiece!
I loved seeing her work in progress over at her flicker site. I haven’t been over to dioramarama in quite a while, thanks for getting me back. I’m newly inspired!
I like this plain and simple idea for a quilt pattern. I’d love to work it up in purples!
i loved MQW!
That’s super pleasing to the eye.
What a beautiful quilt! The Modern Quilt Workshop is one of my favorite books to look at (eye-candy AND useful!). It’s inspiring to see one of those quilts made! Thanks for the link, too – the group has made some fantastic quilts.
That is gorgeous!!!! What a talent!
With friendship,
Lisa
I love it! It looks so complicated and yet, upon closer inspection, it is really quite simple. I adore quilts like this. Oh, and the colors make me so happy. Thanks Kim for sharing.
I favorited this quilt in Flickr ages and ages ago — every time I look at it I feel happy. Kim does great work and chose some excellent colors.
Beautiful! Those solids look great – I would never have thought to use only solids.
love this quilt – so modern and artsy. thanks for sharing.
It’s lovely!
Wow! This is so amazing. The colors are great, just like the comments above, the solids work so well! Congrats…
Love the bright colors. Seven months! Now I know that I am in over my head!!
I’d love to see the back, too. What a stunner. Well worth the wait!!!
This quilt is beautiful. I rarely see quilts that are done in solid colors and it is spectacular. My next quilt will be in bright vibrant solids like this one is! Thanks for the inspiration!
gorgeous- love the varied width of lines.
Sometimes I find the printed fabric quilts not quite my style – the solid fabrics in this quilt are a nice ‘fresh face’! Thanks for sharing a wonderful piece of art work!
I love the colors! Very inspiring.
That is a beautiful quilt, the colors are great!
I really love this quilt. I like that it is just solid color fabric yet the design reminds me of an abstract painting. Beautiful.
i agree that it is cool that the pattern doesn’t have to be (or look) complicated to look so great and interesting
I like the colors that you used in this quilt.
This quilt is gorgeous and lovely and yummy all rolled into one! The solid fabrics are amazing, and after an hour getting lost in the flicker sets for the modern quilt-along (yes, I realize you warned us) I find myself inspired and content all at the same time!
love the colors. i don’t usually like solid blocks in quilts but this is spectacular!
great bright colours!
I love the way Denyse Schmidt quilts turn out. I’m beginning to see your taste in the types of quilts you’re posting here for quilt of the day!
Gorgeous colors!
I love the bright colors–what a beautiful quilt!
Very striking quilt! That book is on it’s way to my house as we speak. Can’t wait to start creating from it.
I love those bold colors.
I love the colors. I’m a sucker for bright colors. I just wanna grab it up and snuggle in it! It looks so cozy and warm. I’m resisting clicking the Modern Quilt-Along group link until I get home from work…. I would probably get myself into too much trouble!
I love this! I’m beginning to think that I ought to try a solid colors quilt.
OK. OK. You’re going to make me do a quilting post. I have one that has been in the works since my first son was in the belly. The quilt is appliqued hearts of vintage fabric hand-me-downs from the 30s and 40s. I’m only 4 hearts away from finishing the top!
gorgeous!
Such happy colors and a simple pattern too!
Retro wonderful! Love this pattern.
Seeing that quilt put a smile on my face. It is just beautiful!
Wow! Pretty!

WOW! love the colors!!! the pattern is so simple but the colors are so wow!
The Modern Quilt Workshop is on my wishlist…I think I may need to buy it for myself.
So gorgeous!!
Great colors – I love it!
Such simple patterns make the prettiest quilts! I just wish someone would magically square-up and baste the quilt layers for me…
That is BEAUTIFUL!
Such wonderful color combination.
Beautiful Colours!
What a perfect way to perk up this dreary February day!
I like the bright colors. But its too modern for me.
Lovely and colourfull quilt!
One of the things that I love in a quilt making is that one can play only with plain colors, with patterned fabrics, with different shapes or with all together and everytime you can come up with something new and beautiful. It´s endless
I love this quilt. Yay Kim!
I’m so intimidated by quilts of this size, the biggest I’ve done is slightly smaller than a twin bed. This is a gorgeous quilt, I really like all the solid fabric together.
Wow!!! How pretty!
I really like this one. Such a simple pattern but, it would look completely different depending on the fabrics you used!
Thanks for the love everybody — I felt like a celebrity all day yesterday! And thanks to Kristin and Beth for including me! It is definitely my most successful quilt, and it gets a lot of use.
p.s. the back is just solid coral-colored fabric. You can see it here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/kmel/99465126/in/set-72057594064069887/
This is gorgeous!! I love how modern it is and I adore the colors.

This is just gorgeous!!
