Introduction ~ Lara
From Beth: Lara is so skilled and creative with her sewing, and quite passionate about it too! We enjoy her beautiful creations through her thornberry blog and we were so excited for her fantastic contribution to Women’s Clothing Month; she’s “demystifying” patterns for us (coming up next!).
From Lara: My name is Lara, and I live in Melbourne, Australia. I am married and have two daughters, a 5 year old and a baby who is almost 1 year old. I have been sewing ever since my mum taught me at around 8 years old and I am lucky enough to have a dedicated a sewing room, complete with machine, overlocker, sewing cabinet, iron, ironing board and plenty of drawers and shelves! Even if I only have fifteen minutes up my sleeve, I can squeeze in a little bit of sewing, as everything is set up ready to go. I sew most of my own clothes, and I’m looking forward to putting a new winter wardrobe together if I ever stop sewing for the girls! Although I don’t have any formal dressmaking qualifications, I have learned a great deal over the years through trial and error, and from some excellent magazines and books. I have just returned to part-time work outside the home in addition to doing the books for our two home-based businesses. When I’m not sewing clothes I’m doing crochet, sewing bags, reading magazines and books, and reading sewing and crafting blogs – I’m addicted! It’s a good thing that we have a cleaner…
