I have never thought about making my own mousepad, now, where do you find cork?
Mine needs a big makeover!! Thanks for the idea!!
I love this idea! This is definitely not your grandmother’s (or your husband’s or your children’s) mousepad! Thanks for the tutorial link.
What a fun, original idea! We’re using an old hardcover book for our mouse pad right now – this would be a much nicer option.
So much inspiration…so little time.
Finally finished the bathmat for which you provided a tutorial in November. But what to do next??
I think everybody is getting a mouse pad next xmas!!
This is the best! I was always wondering if I could make a mouse pad, since my boyfriend’s is falling apart. Thanks for the tutorials!!
I love this! I have some geeky ones from various conferences, etc., but no cute ones! Have to get on it!
Oooh, very pretty. Thanks!
Now this is a first-rate idea! We have this nasty, boring mouse pad and I just hate it…I just need to find me some cork!
Ooh, I may just have to do this!
Looks great. Thanks.
This is such a great idea – I can’t wait to try it!
Thanks! Such a great idea!
cute! i definitely need to spruce ours up.
i’ve always loved all the work on shim + sons, she makes some beautiful mouse pads.

maybe i’ll have to get on this this weekend!
Just love this! I will be making some of these soon!
Oh man, this looks AWESOME. Can’t wait to try it.
Oh my goodness. I need to make one of these pronto.
I need a new mouse pad – what a perfect idea!
Fabulous idea!
Awesome – I never would have thought to do this!
a perfect idea for my family office that is being turned into my own private “studio”! This will definitely go on the list to make once we start making progress on the room being all mine!
I foresee into the future that cork craft squares covered in my favorite fabrics will be decorating the walls of my tiny sewing room, just the perfect place to hang inspirations and photos!
Cool! This would be nicer than the one that came with my PC and it could count toward craftiness!
What a great idea. I miss having a cute mousepad.
Once again I am sitting here with my mouth hanging open … I would never have thought of that…
Wouldn’t be cool to have one for every holiday? Great tutorials from all. Early Christmas presents for all.
i’m almost a bit sorry i don’t need a mouse pad anymore…
What a great idea! I’m going to fuse material to the existing (ugly) mouse pad I have! Thanks for the idea!
So many great ideas!
Cute doll quilt and love your idea for a mouse pad!
I have never seen a mouse pad pattern before. What a great idea!
I would have never thought to use cork underneath! That’s just too cute, and too clever!
How fortuitous! I have everything I need to make a new mouse pad, including the reason to make one- ours fell apart last week and we have been using the back of a calendar! Off to the craft room for me.
Oh, and I love blue.
How cute! I’m always looking for handmade gifts for men and this would be a great addition to my list. But probably not in the pretty pink fabric you’ve used.
of course! what a great way to use and keep a favorite fat quarter!
Neat idea. Definitely simple but LOADS of versatility. Would make nice gifts.
I LOVE this tute! I am making one today! And for Christmas and Dad’s birthday and brother’s birthday…
What a great idea. I love this series…so doable!
I’ve been wanting to make my own mousepad for awhile now but wasn’t sure how to go about doing it. Thanks for the great tutorial!
That sure would beat the Star Wars Episode I mouse pad that my husband currently has sitting at our computer!
I’ve been seeing homemade pads…so glad to know how now!
I am moving into a new office I think I may give this a try. Thanks for the tip!!!
I love this idea! I need some message boards made like this too!
I could use a new mouse pad – I now have another project to add to my list!
how wonderful…i totally have cork i need to do something with, awesome!
i love the idea of using cork…must try that. i made this one by just covering a mousepad with adhesive fabric that is actually a scrapbooking product.

This is way cute! I’ve been wonderinf how to do this! Thanks!
I have always wanted to try a mouse pad. This makes it sound so easy. I think I really really have to try it now. Thanks for the inspiration.
What a great idea!
Great idea! I love fat quarter month and can’t wait to do some swappin!
That is a very cool idea…and something I could actually finish during the kids’ nap!
that fabric is GORGEOUS!
So cute! I now have so many amazing project ideas from this month’s Fat Quarter projects!! I’m so excited to get sewing again.
I have a blue loving friend. i will share with her if I win.
Sooo much cuter than what I use! Thanks for the tutorial.
That is such a great idea to brighten a desk.
funny– the idea of a mouse pad– my desk is way too messy for such things.
Thanks for all the mouse pad love everyone! For those looking for cork, I used cork placemats from IKEA! I picked up a package of 6 for about $2 with no idea what I’d use them for. They eventually became mousepads. I’ve also see cork at Target near the office supplies.
Happy Crafting everyone!
This would be great for some college students I know! And much better than the boring black ones–or the cartoon character ones. I haven’t seen any with the mod, funky designs I could make with fabric.
Super cute!..one more thing to add to my “want to make” list.
I’ll definitelly change mine this weekend for this cute and girly version!! And it’s so clever too! Thanks for the tutorial !
Cute!
I love how simple this is with a gorgeous result. I can’t wait to make these as gifts!
What a great idea! Much nicer than a regular mouse mat : )
Thats a great idea! I can’t wait to make one! These will make cute stocking stuffers for the my siblings next year!
Wow personalised mouse pads! I love it!!
I think I found my project for the teachers I work with. They all have computers and how fun to have a cute mousepad. I’m going to make these for next Christmas. I’ve been looking and looking for a project that they’d all love. Thanks!!
that is awesome! I can’t wait to try it. I didn’t know you could fuse on to cork-cool:)
awesome! I’m going to make one of these
Great idea! I am going to hit the $ store and find some cork and get to ironing!
Great way to keep my favorite fabric out for display. Love this.
Someone else commented on this as being good for gifts. Most definitely. You could even make these for kids using fabric of their favorite characters.
I love this idea. Will definitely make a customized one.
Cute idea, where do you find cork?
Such a great idea! You mean, you don’t have to use the ratty old mouse pads that just seem to appear from nowhere, and usually advertise something? I could actually LIKE my mousepad? Since I seem to spend an insane amount of time at my computer, this could really bring some easy beauty to my desk!
Brilliant!
What a wonderful idea! Thank you.
Wow, this makes the folded piece of fabric we use for a mouse pad look quite shabby. Guess I’ll have to transform it. =]
What a great idea! Especially as teacher gifts. Do you think that you could fuse paper too, something like a map? I always come home with blue fabric, so of course, I wouldn’t mind adding to my stash.
I love making things from fat quarters!!!
Love the mouse pad idea!!! What a great quick gift for that will useful to so many people!
OK, This is genius. My mousepad just bit the dust and I’m always desperate to find one that goes with my pink desk. Lucky for me, I also have a stack of those cork trivets from IKEA! Woohoo!
This is an awesome project. I think we might make one with our 4H group!
My mouse pad is soooo tired looking! Although it has a Bible verse and I hate covering it or replacing it, it may be time with these neato tutes. Thanks!
Great Idea.
My desk at work needs a new sunny, happy mouse pad.
I’ve also seen cork offered in office supplies stores cheaply in the form of cork tiles that one is supposed to be able to stick to their wall to form a custom Cork Message Board type thing, but that actually never worked out for us. The best adhesive we found stuck to the wall but not the cork. I think it was because the cork was rather thick. This is a really great idea, but I wonder if the fabric would begin to fray in a few months? I’ve never used fusible web, so if it really prevents that, I’m excited to use it.
I love this idea. This month has been wonderful. Every day there are new projects to try.
I really want one of these!
Never thought of this- off to make one
Oh, that would be lovely! My mousepad needs a makeover.
I LOVE this idea! So functional, and I hate the boring and/or ugly mousepads I usually use. I want one for home, one for the office, maybe even a small one to move room to room with me… So versatile! And I think it would be a great gift idea for coworkers – not too personal, work-related, but still handmade and fun. Yay!
I’ve made a quilted mouse pad a year ago (see it here if you like: http://sew-mad.blogspot.com/2007/11/something-useful.html) but I really like the idea of having a round one. Very pretty!
And you never can have enough of them… one at home and one when you travel…
Love the cork mousepad! I think I need to make a couple to coordinate with my office! What fun!
I was just telling Hubby that we needed a new mouse pad. I’ll definately have to try this one!
Holy Dinah! I need a new mouse pad and this is something i could easily make. Thanks for the idea.
What a great idea and I had to check out the tutorial to see what is used – CORK – really! GREAT!
i love this idea. sweet!
This is fabulous! I am in desperate need of a mouse pad at work and never remember to purchase one. I’m glad I found this tutorial so I can now make my own!
