I have been dying to do some towels for the kitchen and this post just reminded me that I need to get on it! And great idea to use some fat quarters!
I’ve been meaning to spruce the kitchen up with some new towels for weeks. Thanks for the pretty reminder!
These are such a cute idea. I can make these to match my friends kitchen.
These would be great friendship week gifts.
Thanks for sharing.
these are cute! i especially love the ones on shim + sons and wikstenmade’s flickr sites. what a nice way to add some life and colour to your kitchen.
I can totally see an apron/patchwork towel set as gift for some one in the near future!
Love the towels! I made some using your tutorial for my sister in January and she LOVED them. Now I want to make some for me!
What a great idea! we just painted the kitchen and it needs some more zip!
Great idea!
This is a great idea and I already have the towels…!!
I am loving all the FQ ideas this month, and am headed to the Post Office this afternoon to mail my FQ swaps. The mailbox is going to be my best friend next week
i’m loving fat quarter month, and these towels will be an easy way to spruce up my kitchen!
Great idea. I have a charm pack that is just waiting to be put to good use.
Great ideas once again. Thanks.
Who wouldn’t love these towels in their kitchen. So cute. What a bunch of fun. I am really enjoying FQ month.
Those are beautiful, I’ll have to add those to my ever growing list!
I love these patchwork towels. Anyone know where to buy good towels for these projects?
That’s such a fun idea! I love it.
The most beautiful fabrics are always featured in these projects.
Thes patchwork hotpads tutorial at http://lindamade.wordpress.com/2007/08/28/hot-stuff-patchwork-oven-mitts/ would add a nice touch for a gift with the patchwork kitchen towels.
These look like a fast and easy way to give a semi-homemade gift to someone at the last minute. Thanks for sharing these great ideas.
I have a pile of towels that I could get started on. And I just might, the pictures are motivating.
pretty! who wouldn’t love these? They would make great gifts to anyone (as well as to me).
These are so beautiful. Does anyone have any great sources for quality kitchen towels? All the ones I see are poorly constructed.
great idea, printing and putting this away for christmas gifts next year.
Oh, a perfect gift for my sister who just bought her first house. Maybe with a matching apron.
Those look very nice… I have some towels that could use a bit of jazzing up!
I love kitchen towels. I would have a closet-full if I had my way.
I will need to make at least a few of these.
I must say I am loving FQ month… who would have thought you could do so much with an FQ? Personally, I find it hard not to just sit and look at them… it’s an inexpensive way of owning a lot of different fabrics I love (especially the expensive ones I can’t afford to buy a whole lot of!) but now I’m thinking “stop making stuff with those cheap fabrics beccy, and actually cut into that lovely, lovely Erin McMorris FQ!” You’ve given me lots of inspiration, just need to get up the courage…
These are beautiful!
Love the towel idea. Something everyone can use more of.
Lovely
Thank you for your blog. It’s such an inspiration to me.
What a marvelous idea. I have all these strips left over from when I thought I’d try a log cabin quilt. I made log cabin hot pads from some of the pieces. I feel a matching towel or two coming on!
I love how you can use small scraps sewn together to create these… don’t have to throw those little fabric bits away! Very easy and what a great housewarming gift these would make.
Ah…another wonderful fat quarter idea. I’ve added jumbo red rickrack to waffle weave dishtowels but had not thought of fabric. Yes! Thanks!
What a happy project! I may make a set to match the kitchen mat you posted about a few days ago. =]
These towels are so cute! I might have to try some.
Gorgeous! Those towels exude style!
Love these! Beautiful!
love these towels! I received some towels similar to these, love them!
I used the tutorial that you posted near the holidays to make similar patchwork towels for Christmas gifts, a housewarming gift, and even a set for the PTO raffle. They were fun to make and they were appreciated by everyone who received them. Thanks for the tutorials!
What a great tutorial!! Thanks so much for sharing!
What a great idea! I’m currently teaching some first-timers how to sew and think this looks like the perfect project to start on.
I have a huge stash of fabric but very little fat quarters. Would love to win.
What a great idea! they look lovely!
These look like such fun.
Great Tutorials. I am feeling inspired already. I am lovin this month.
Love this idea for adding some color to the kitchen. Elevating the mundane.
Thanks for all the wonderful tutorials and links! I’m a newbie and very happy to have found the site. Pink? Did you say pink??? I have fallen in love with all things pink as of late.
Once again thanks for the inspiration. I love cheerfull kitchen towels.
With the help of the internet, I am teaching myself to sew. Boy, am I having fun! Only wish weekends were five days long and the workweek two…
Thanks so much for all the great inspiration your site gives.
I embellished tea towels for gifts at Christmas. I used plaid towels and added a coordinating strip of fabric. I embellished the strip with some yo-yos before sewing the strip to the towel. they were a big hit.
I love those kitchen towels. They match my kitchen! I’ll definitely have to give this project a try.
can’t wait to make these!
This is what I’ve been planning for my kitchen. I’m hoping to paint it by the end of the summer – am just gathering and planning currently. But I had planned on tossing some current towels to the rag pile and making some really fun ones for the “new” kitchen!
I really like this idea, and now definitely have to give it a try. If they work as well as I’m hoping they will, I have a feeling a lot of people will be getting them as gifts!
Lovely idea. Especially for kid’s towels. I have to try! Thanks!
What a great way to personalize a gift!
a great idea to spruce up the kitchen!
They look just beautiful! Great FQ idea.
This is a great way to spruce up my kitchen!
These will be perfect to make alongside the potholders I am making for my grandmas. You found some really beautiful Flickr pictures, they make me envious.
I absolutely love this and can’t believe I still haven’t made any yet! It is definitely on my project list!
This is a great idea!! I would love to fix up my kitchen and maybe bathroom too, this way!
This reminds me I have 50 white towels waiting to be dyed and jazzed up!
these are great, I can’t wait to make some for myself!
Love these patchwork kitchen towels, especially the info I got from one of the links about how linen makes a great dishcloth. I’ve been wanting to try some in linen because I love the look and now I know they’re functional as well as pretty. Thanks!
cute.
Tina Givens fabric is so cool. I love the tutorials. Might just have to make some of these.
Those are beautiful!
These are so cute–we just moved into a new house and am looking for ways to spice it up, this may be the trick! Thanks!
What a great way to personalize your towels!
Great gift idea, thanks!
Great idea to make for yourself or for a gift.
Oh, I need to make a “springy” set of these. They will really dress up the kitchen.
Great Tutorials and this would work well with homespun towels and solid fabrics too or an applique at Christmas. I think you got my creative juices flowing here. Thanks for sharing.
Jeanne
I love those towels.
Great idea this is something I could do with bath towels. I am wanting to redo the childrens bathroom.
Those are really pretty!
Hello…great ideas always…thanks…
Thank so much for the info. I Have already learned so much.
GREAT housewarming gift idea!
Great project!! I love the towels & want to give them a try!
I find it amazing all the projects that one can do, using Fat Quarters.
This towel project would definitely brighten up, anyone’s kitchen. Great gift idea too!
-Alice
Great idea! I’ll have to do this to my teatowels since they’re pretty boring looking
What a great and colourful project! I think I’m going to have to try this one ou.
What a great way to personalize towels!
These towels are such a great gift idea!
I can’t wait to try out towels like this in my soon to be newly decorated bathroom
Just wondering about ‘shrinkage’ — I prewash my cotton fabrics; wouldn’t the waffleweave Target or Ikea towel shrink a lot when washed? Should the toweling fabric be prewashed as well?
Great look on the towels. Love the color splash. Would look great hanging on the handle of my black-glass oven door.
Adding it to my to-do list!
I was actually going to be buying some towels today to start doing this!!!
Totally cute.
But question: If you add cotton to a terry bath towel, will it act funny when it gets wet/washed?
Or is this something that needs to be done on something “pretty” rather than utilitarian?
I’m looking forward to using up more stash on all these great ideas! Now if I just had more time in the day…
I really LOVE this idea. I have been frustrated that I can’t find kitchen towels I like…Now, I can make what I like. Thanks for the inspiration.
I love the fabric choices on the featured towels. Yet another good idea!
Great tutorial. thanks for sharing!
So pretty! What a great project for when we repaint the kitchen – must have towels to match!
I just got some white kitchen towels clearanced out at Target for $1, for a 5 PACK! Now I know exactly what to do with them! Thanks for the awesome idea!
fabulous idea, redoing my kitchen slowly now…will be keeping this in mind!
Cute idea, off to the sewing room!
What a GREAT way to use up some beautiful scraps. Thank you!
These are adorable towels- love TG fabrics!
What a cute project. They would make a great gift with a matching apron (as someone mentioned earlier). And cute guest towels too!
Are these the fat quarters sewn onto plain towels? Humm…I think I could get behind that. I hate it when towels are not absorbent, so I would need terrycloth in there some how.
wow, those are lovely. I hadn’t thought of using FQs for patchwork towels!
Trimming the towels makes them extra-special. They’d be great as a hostess gift with a bottle of wine or a few recipe cards.
What a fabulous idea! I’m going to do this right now!
I love the colors in the towels:)
Love this idea! I think I might just have to spruce up some dishtowels later today!!
Fun towels!
I’ve just begun to work with fabrics again, and, having just completed seven sets of quilted potholders this looks like just the items to go with them for Christmas gifts. Thanks so much for the ideas and tute.
I made one a few weeks (months?) ago and it was super fun. More in the game plan for holidays, for sure.
Great idea!
I have way too many kitchen towels, but these could make great christmas presents.
I am newly into sewing and I just purchased some fat quarters yesterday from Sew, Mama, Sew, so I can attempt this project! Thanks for the inspiration.
These are way too cute. I love them and think that some big bath towels like this would be way cute for the kids. Also, it is a good way to use old baby towels that are too small for anyone anymore.
