I have been dying to do some towels for the kitchen and this post just reminded me that I need to get on it! And great idea to use some fat quarters!

I must say I am loving FQ month… who would have thought you could do so much with an FQ? Personally, I find it hard not to just sit and look at them… it’s an inexpensive way of owning a lot of different fabrics I love (especially the expensive ones I can’t afford to buy a whole lot of!) but now I’m thinking “stop making stuff with those cheap fabrics beccy, and actually cut into that lovely, lovely Erin McMorris FQ!” You’ve given me lots of inspiration, just need to get up the courage…

What a marvelous idea. I have all these strips left over from when I thought I’d try a log cabin quilt. I made log cabin hot pads from some of the pieces. I feel a matching towel or two coming on!
I love how you can use small scraps sewn together to create these… don’t have to throw those little fabric bits away! Very easy and what a great housewarming gift these would make.

I embellished tea towels for gifts at Christmas. I used plaid towels and added a coordinating strip of fabric. I embellished the strip with some yo-yos before sewing the strip to the towel. they were a big hit.
I love those kitchen towels. They match my kitchen! I’ll definitely have to give this project a try.

This is what I’ve been planning for my kitchen. I’m hoping to paint it by the end of the summer – am just gathering and planning currently. But I had planned on tossing some current towels to the rag pile and making some really fun ones for the “new” kitchen!

Just wondering about ‘shrinkage’ — I prewash my cotton fabrics; wouldn’t the waffleweave Target or Ikea towel shrink a lot when washed? Should the toweling fabric be prewashed as well?

Are these the fat quarters sewn onto plain towels? Humm…I think I could get behind that. I hate it when towels are not absorbent, so I would need terrycloth in there some how.

Trimming the towels makes them extra-special. They’d be great as a hostess gift with a bottle of wine or a few recipe cards.

These are way too cute. I love them and think that some big bath towels like this would be way cute for the kids. Also, it is a good way to use old baby towels that are too small for anyone anymore.
