Other mats we love. Although there isn’t a tutorial for this exact project, we found tutorials for similar projects and similar techniques here, here and here. I really like this idea! I think I’m going to need to make one with dark colors that can be easily washable for our front door. An easy fix for wet, snow covered shoes all over our entry floor!
Oh, that’s such a cute idea! I hate buying rugs–they’re so expensive and they never fit the space I’m looking for right! I’ll definitely be making some of these.

I love the projects you can make with fat quarters. I also have ben loving orange lately. I made a purse, with some Amy Butler Midwest Modern fabric, which came out great. I should upload the photo….humm. maybe I need to figure out how to do that.

I really like this idea. I need new floor mats in my bathroom and want one by my bed so my little dog can jump up on the bed and not slide on the hardwood floors. Thanks for the great suggestion.
I love the floor mat! The colors are so calming. I have one of those on my list to make for Christmas 2009. Sew Liberated has a tutorial for one on her site which is simple but fun.

I love the Montessori by Hand bath mat! I made one for my bathroom, but used leftover pieces from the bathroom curtains instead of making it patchwork and then appliqued daisies on it to match the shower hooks. A very fun project!

This would be a good way to experiment with free motion quilting designs. I usually make a 10″ or so square to figure out quilting designs, but if I made a floor mat then I’d be able to use it after instead of just having it as a stitching sample for the project.
This is the perfect inspiration for me, as I am dressing the guest bath…:)
Fat quarters by far are one of my favorite tools to use to make projects, especially because of how they’re cut!
This is a great idea for a collection of handmade batik fat quarters that I purchased while on a trip to Grenada, in the West Indies. Of course, I would be afraid to use as a rug- maybe more or a hanging.
Astounding, really. I was just in the shower and trying to think of something that I could make for a friend of mine and hmmming and hawing, because what I really want to make for her is a quilt of some kind (even though I have never quilted)… And then I scan through my list of blog links and lo and behold! I could do this!

I love fat quarter friendly projects. A smaller quilted piece means instant satisfaction sooner. Those fabrics used on the post are delightful.

I think I’ll make a similar sized mat, but then hang it on the wall in the foyer. WIth the first letter of our last name monogrammed in the largest block….awesome. Thanks for the idea….
