I love those! I think they’d be great for a b-day party, baby shower, pretty much anything!
How about Oscar party bunting? Must be some appropriate fabric for that out there somewhere….

Oh, I’m so excited. I’ve been thinking about making a bunting all week.
I’ve seen buntings made on several blogs I frequent, but I’ve never thought of making them till now. It looks like a fun project.
I love these every time I see them, but never seem to manage it when birthday parties are near. You mentioning it as a possibility for a kids’ bedroom has inspired me to give finally give it a try! Finally, something I can make for my boys!!!

I’ve seen this done with paper, but fabric bunting seems much more practical. You can reuse it!

I keep seeing these buntings (which I ignorantly called banners up to now!). I really wanted one at Christmas to swag on my mantle. I hosted a baby shower last month and did one with paper – I hand-cut letters and tied them together with ribbon to say “Welcome Baby”. Can’t wait to do one with fabric!
Wish I’d had this idea when my kids were little… It would have been much nicer than the storebought cardboard “Happy Birthday”!

Since the first time I saw those popping up in Blogland I wanted to make one, never did. But sure will soon, after all the tutorials given here. These are ridicolous expensive if bought in a store and no good quality at all.

Every time I see someone has made those cute little flags, I think to myself-how easy! Have I done it yet? Nope, but I still love it! I even have the fabric tagged for it.

i LOVE the buntings! i’ve been making them for baby gifts for a while now. i love to bring them to the baby shower or welcome party and have the guests sign the flags with their wishes/ prayers/ blessings for the new baby. it’s always so fun to see them hanging in the baby’s room afterwards! and i have to agree- they’re a great stash buster and they’re really hard to mess up. thanks for all of the links to the pics. it’s fun to see what other people have done. maybe now i’ll start documenting mine as i make them.

Currently my daughter has construction paper rings hanging around her room. The bunting would be so much prettier!!
I like the fact that your making something to use again and again that replaces something you would normally throw away after using it once.

I am working on a very similar item for my daughter’s birthday right now! I love this !
I just cut out a bunch of triangles to make some buntings for my DS birthday party next month. I am making mine with a casing on the top part instead of permanentl stitched onto binding/ribbon,etc. so that I can change out the pennants if I like. I found some instructions for a similar project on the joanns website. It was a banner to hang for the Fourth of July. My DS’s will have various colors and prints including sponge bob and I can use use some of them again for my DD’s birthday later.

I second Alison N’s recommendation of the Purl Bee’s party garland. I just made a strand of it for my twin girls’ first birthday party. A great stash buster – this one even gets tiny scraps that I never thought I would use, but kept anyway.

aSprinkling & Katie– This one pictured above is double-sided… I just worked out the size I wanted and made a paper template. I cut the fabrics, sew each triangle together on the long sides with a zig-zag stitch and then I always go through and trim the long sides again with pinking shears (so they match up perfectly!). I lay the pieces all out to find the most appealing order and then I start from the center of a double-fold bias tape strip, sewing my way out from the middle to each end with a zig-zag stitch. It’s a really fun project. We have birthday bunting, Halloween bunting, bunting for friends… Fun.

i just bought a new pattern online that i use fat quarters for – making ties for my 2 years old. they are so easy and turned out so cute!

I made one for my niece’s ladybug themed birthday party along the lines of that last tutorial that you posted. I wish I would’ve known about that one sooner, it would’ve saved me time figuring out the measurements myself

I just made some of this for a baby shower. It was all University of Texas themed, so I bought a few fat quarters of UT fabrics, cut up some worn out jeans and presto-chango, you have fun party decor.
Love this project. I may do this for every party. Then the honoree can take them home with them.
I’ve made a few flags for a bunting using the pattern from Home Sewn, by Kaari Meng. No occasion in particular, just something to brighten up the long winter.
I am excited to make one of these for the next birthday party. A great project for all of my scraps.
