Who would spend hundreds on one bag when you can have one sweet bag after another with these tutorials…and for just a few dollars?! Aren’t we sewers fortunate to use our craft for comfort (quilts), art (quilts, wall hangings, etc.) and fashion (handbags, etc.)?
Love the handbag! I’ve made several different styles over the past year and really enjoy making purses and bags.
I have never made a handbag, purse, or clutch, so this is one of my goals for the year. I just have to find the perfect fabric first!

The fabric is really cute but I would rather make a shoulder bag than one you have to actually carry in your hand all the time. The book Sew Everything Workshop has a really cute project for a Tokyo bag that I’m dying to try.

I make loads of tote bags for adults and kids as gifts and also to sell. I’m working at opening an etsy shop for my company, smidgebox, but for now i’ve mostly sold at craft fairs and by commission.

I love this pattern and the handles look vintage… are they?
Just posted a photo of a diaperbag that I made. It’s blue and can be made from 8 fat quarter size pieces of fabric. The fabric is called “Wrestlin’ Cats.” It has 2 boxes of Whitman’s Sampler one pound boxes sticking out of the outside pockets and another one in the bottom of the inside of the bag, for illustration purposes, only. Eight fat quarters to make it consisted of: Two for the outside pockets, one on each side, folded in half….. Two for the outsides, one for each side……. Two for the insides, one on each side…… Two for the inside pockets, one for each side, folded in half…… You might say that this is a larger version of the LGD Miranda Day Bag, with using the lining pieces on both the outside and the inside, with adding pockets to it, on both the outside and the inside. It’s also has two more fat quarters for the interfacing. I used an inexpensive solid colored fleece throw that I had cut up for same….. Used blue polypro webbing for the handles on the bag too. It’s one of those one of a kind that I made for a friend that was expecting a boy a couple of months ago. She just loved it……
On my blue diaper bag that I used the “Wrestling Cats” fabric on forgot to say that I ran strips of white Velcro across the top instead of a zipper so it can be easily opened up. Plus used designer buttons in the top center of teh bag to help in opening and closing the Velcro strips on the bag, too, along with them being decorations, too….. Yes, definitely one of a kind on this fat-quarter blue diaperbag…… The two polypro webbig straps are both 24 inches long so the bag can be used as a shoulder bag, thus hands free for carrying ones “bundle of joy.” Peggy

I’m a Fat Quarter addict! I have a bunch of them, always lookingn for just the right project to show them off! Got a bunch of old handbags from the Goodwill over the weekend! The handles are great, and cheaper than new ones! Now I know what to use them for…Fat Quarter Cuties!
