Ooo, I’m loving that fabric!
That is a gorgeous clutch! I am definitely making a few of those!:)
This is a really cute bag, especially in that fabric. And thanks for reminding us of all the other info you have on your site as well that is related. I swear I could spend all day reading Sew, Mama, Sew! and not actually getting any sewing done!
I love your site and all the info given there! Please enter me for your drawing of fat quarters.

Thank you so much for these links. I make a lot of purses, and I’ve been trying to get up the nerve to try a zippered pocket. The tutorial is great! I want to try it as soon as I get home from work tonight

What a classy purse!
What a cute purse! I’ve only sewed aprons so far, but I just might use this purse as my first non-apron project. Thanks!
I love the Dresden Petal Handbag and will be putting that on my project queue.
I love the idea of using a fat quarter to make a bag! Quick project that doesn’t cost a lot of money…fantastic!
Love the bag and can’t wait for the tutorial. THanks.

What a gorgeous purse! Can’t wait to see the tutorial!
yeah, bags are my favorite to make!
This is a great post! So many things to consider when making a bag.
Could you explain more about making your own binding (or if you have already written about it refer me to it)?
Thanks!
I’m bookmarking these pages for Spring!
Cute! Gotta read all this to figure out how to make one. Thanks!
Oh Purses are my favorite thing to make!! I can’t wait to try a fat quarter puse!! That purse is beautiful!!
that is an awesome looking bag! Can’t wait to see the tutorial!
This is great! Looking forward to the tutorial. Love the wood handles!
Who would spend hundreds on one bag when you can have one sweet bag after another with these tutorials…and for just a few dollars?! Aren’t we sewers fortunate to use our craft for comfort (quilts), art (quilts, wall hangings, etc.) and fashion (handbags, etc.)?
Love the handbag! I’ve made several different styles over the past year and really enjoy making purses and bags.
I have never made a handbag, purse, or clutch, so this is one of my goals for the year. I just have to find the perfect fabric first!
Can’t wait to print the PDF…I love bags and have made about 35 so far for family and friends…
I’ve been needing a new purse…this post inspires me to do some research to find the perfect one…now if only I had the perfect material!
This gets the creative juices flowing!
The fabric is really cute but I would rather make a shoulder bag than one you have to actually carry in your hand all the time. The book Sew Everything Workshop has a really cute project for a Tokyo bag that I’m dying to try.
These bags look like they would be good starter purses to learn the basics. Thanks, I’m really enjoying fat quarter month and the daily postings.
So fun! Can’t wait to make one!
What a cute idea. Love the handbag.
I love this bag! What a great way to make a cute inexpensive bag. I can’t wait to see the tutorial….I might start my Christmas projects early this year!
I have never had a true “handbag” and can’t wait to try this.
Love it!
I can’t beleive this…out of a fat quarter!!
Um…wow. I think this is the best usage of a fat quarter yet!
Super cute!!
I can’t wait to try this. Thank you!
I am dying to start the tutorial when it is offered. I really want to make a purse.
I love this FQ moth, so many great projects and ideas offered.
I love the bag!
I’m a sucker for a good bag! I can’t wait!
Love the handbag! I sure hope that it’s easy to make- as a novice sewer, I like projects I can accomplish, that aren’t a pillow.
I would love to make a bag. I’m new to sewing but it is on my list.

I make loads of tote bags for adults and kids as gifts and also to sell. I’m working at opening an etsy shop for my company, smidgebox, but for now i’ve mostly sold at craft fairs and by commission.
I have some pics on my flickr set:

Cute bag!
Bags are an obsession … er, I mean passion … of mine. Thanks for the new ones and the reminder of all the oldies. I need to get sewing.
Very cute. Love the fabric!
I enjoy checking out all the tutorials–These sewing “sisters” and SMS are so generous with their talent!
I’ve just started making handbags and LOVE uses for small amounts of gorgeous fabric! Thanks!
I love this pattern and the handles look vintage… are they?
Just posted a photo of a diaperbag that I made. It’s blue and can be made from 8 fat quarter size pieces of fabric. The fabric is called “Wrestlin’ Cats.” It has 2 boxes of Whitman’s Sampler one pound boxes sticking out of the outside pockets and another one in the bottom of the inside of the bag, for illustration purposes, only. Eight fat quarters to make it consisted of: Two for the outside pockets, one on each side, folded in half….. Two for the outsides, one for each side……. Two for the insides, one on each side…… Two for the inside pockets, one for each side, folded in half…… You might say that this is a larger version of the LGD Miranda Day Bag, with using the lining pieces on both the outside and the inside, with adding pockets to it, on both the outside and the inside. It’s also has two more fat quarters for the interfacing. I used an inexpensive solid colored fleece throw that I had cut up for same….. Used blue polypro webbing for the handles on the bag too. It’s one of those one of a kind that I made for a friend that was expecting a boy a couple of months ago. She just loved it……
On my blue diaper bag that I used the “Wrestling Cats” fabric on forgot to say that I ran strips of white Velcro across the top instead of a zipper so it can be easily opened up. Plus used designer buttons in the top center of teh bag to help in opening and closing the Velcro strips on the bag, too, along with them being decorations, too….. Yes, definitely one of a kind on this fat-quarter blue diaperbag…… The two polypro webbig straps are both 24 inches long so the bag can be used as a shoulder bag, thus hands free for carrying ones “bundle of joy.” Peggy
I have been looking for great handbags to make and take advantage of small amounts of gorgeous fabric I want to keep as close as possible! Thanks!
I’m a Fat Quarter addict! I have a bunch of them, always lookingn for just the right project to show them off! Got a bunch of old handbags from the Goodwill over the weekend! The handles are great, and cheaper than new ones! Now I know what to use them for…Fat Quarter Cuties!
What a beautiful bag!
Looking forward to the tutorial on the clutch bag.
I was stuck for a birthday present idea for a friend, but I think a bag like this will work!
i’m working on a fat quarter bag myself! What fun!
I just found your site. I love the fat quarter handbag tutorial! My friend and I get together to sew and she wants to make her granddaughter handbags. I prefer to carry a small purse, so it is perfect for us! Thanks so much for putting it out there.

What a great way to make a small purse! Just one fat quarter! Amazing!
This is almost exactly what i have been looking for!
Very cute – I especially like the fabric!
Oh – It’s so lovely!
I love using/buying fat quarters. I really like the idea of using them for a tote bag. I have just about given up on sewing purses though.
Oh, this handbag is nice. I love the tailored look, snappy! So many links to bags made from FQs. Thanks for all the inspiration.
