Oh, yeah. I definitely need to dress better…
I’m getting in the mood for skirts – the sun is shining as I woke up… And I’m the first to comment – Yay!!!
Yay, more skirts!
Thanks for all those great links!
Wow, what a cool collection of tutorials, can’t wait to check them ALL out!
These skirts are much cuter then any I’ve seen in the stores! I think I’ll start shopping for fabric and leave the ready-made for someone else!
Cute skirts! I have the book “Sew What? Skirts” and it is a great resource for learning how to draft your own skirt patterns. I’ve made two from the book, a regular straight skirt and an A-line and the directions were very easy to understand and they each only took a couple hours. No affiliation, just a good book.
Making a skirt is sew on my list I just made two last week and am looking to make another one.

I sew want to try this peasant skirt and she has a calculator to show how much fabric you need. Pretty Cool!
I love skirts! As a quilter, I think they are the only clothes that I’m not scared to try.
Just perfect for a garden party. And sew cute on the models.
I love the wrap skirt from Fitzpatterns! It reminds me of a skirt I wore as a small child.
Can’t wait to find the time to go through all those tutorials. The A-lines are especially appealing to me.
Thanks!
The timing on this post is perfect. I was just thinking last night that I need a new skirt.
Thanks for all the tutorials! I can’t wait to give a few of these a try! I love your blog!!

Oh the thought of wearing a skirt again! Spring has finally arrived here, and I’m eager to sew a pretty skirt to twirl in. Thanks for the tutorial roundup!
Ooooo I just love skirts for summer wardrobes! Love these little ideas, keep ‘em coming!
Oh goodness, you know it is spring time when fun, swirly skirts come out of the deep, dark closet and come back into the sunshine. Finally, we have sunshine in Vermont today – inspiration to make one of these skirts for myself for easter – since most things handmade revolve around my little one year old daughter – make something for mama time. Thanks for all the inspiration.
I’ve been wanting to make a few skirts for me. I really love the petticoat! Its a really great list of skirt tutes!!
So fun! I love the print Lisa used on the fast & cheap skirt.

Love the giveaway! And all of the sewing suggestions and patterns! Thank you for the opportunity to win!
I love to wear skirts, especially in the summer. My fave is an A line. They are so easy to make and fun to trim with bias tape made from fun fabric. Then I take the leftovers and make my girls a skirt in the opposite fabric combination.
Those are some fantastic skirts!!
Wow! So many beautiful skirts! How will I ever choose?
Wow! Thanks for all the inspiration and tutes!

Hurrah! Skirt season is here!
As a kid I hated wearing skirts and dresses. I was a tomboy from the tips of my toes to the top of my head. My mom would try to bribe me to wear them for special occasions. One year for Lent instead of giving up something I promised to wear a skirt *to school* once a week. I don’t think my mom believed I would do it, but I did. And went right back to my jeans after Lent.
Now I love wearing and making skirts. They are just so easy to throw on and go. I have plans to make the Petticoat (love the floaty aspect) and I like my skirts fast and cheap (because I do, too).
Thanks so much for more tutorials. Happy weekend! =]
Oh pretty skirts! Just what I need.
A fast, easy and pretty skirt. I’m sure one of these inspiring tutorials will fit the bill. Many thanks!!

Ooo so many lovely spring skirts.
Oh, skirts, how I’ve missed you!!
Love these type of patterns…thanks!!!
I’m so happy it’s almost skirt season again! I don’t even wear shorts anymore – it’s all skirts all the time for me once the weather is consistently around 70!
These skirts are so perfect for the “not quite shorts weather but I’m bored with jeans” days that are headed our way in Chicago. I could make fifty of them, wear ‘em with a white t-shirt and I’m set!
I’m loving all these skirts!
I have been needing to make more skirts. They are nice and cool when it’s so hot and humid here. Nice tutorials. Thanks!
time to pick out some fabric for a skirt!!!
I am trying to crank out tons of skirts for this summer. Thanks for the added inspiration!
I’ve been trying to get up the nerve to make myself a skirt.
I love making skirts! Thanks for these.
Thanks for all the great tutorials and ideas for skirts. Now that the weather is warming up I keep thinking of skirts, tank tops, and sandals. Now I just need the time to get to work on one of these projects. Maybe the 5-min skirt is the one for me.
Oh skirts sound so fun right now….off to the fabric store!
My friend and I were just talking about making skirts for our craft group next week. This post could be better timed!!
I love that it’s getting to be skirt weather!
These are great! I cannot wait to try a few!
LOVE that you’re doing skirts!! I need to make myself some
Yes, it is getting to be summer time around here and skirts are in. Nice to see some easy patterns.
I am glad to see some larger sized patterns for us plus gals!
I haven’t made clothes for myself in such a long time — maybe a skirt is in order…
Spring skirts are SO much more fun than winter skirts. I think I’ll be trying the Basic A-line, although the 5-minute skirt sounds very tempting! Happy Easter!!
)
Love the Petticoat skirt.
I really like the Basic A-line Skirt Drafting by Katrin at sew-mad, but looks a bit complicated to get the pattern. Still really like it though.
Oh, Hooray! I see many wonderful skirts in my future! I can’t wait!
SOme of these tutorials have been on my to-do list for ages! Time to get sewing!
Why do skirts make me happy? Welcoming the sun and my very pale legs…
My fav. is the 5 min skirt. Although it probably wouldn’t be that short of time if I made it!
OH! We’re in skirt heaven at this house! I think we’re going to have to try a few of these great tutorials….
I have always wanted to try Amy’s tutorial. Maybe I’ll get around to it soon.

Loving the petticoat! And definitely going to try the five minute skirt, that sounds about right for my general attention span
I am really loving skirts this year! I’m excited to make some comfortable ones for the warmer weather. They are so feminine:)
The petticoat one is fantastic!! Lots of ideas for my daughter who REALLY needs some clothes that actually fit!!
Great skirts! I’m looking for a long skirt pattern – I’m not a short skirt kinda girl. Off to search!
Love these, can’t wait to stitch up a new skirt for Easter! thanks!
My daughter loves dresses, so I am trying to wear more skirts and dresses to be a good example to her:-) I made my first skirt in years following instructions from Sew What! Skirts recently, and I look forward to making more. Thanks for this wonderful inspiration.

these tutorials are just what i was looking for! i need some wrap skirts STAT! now onto it!
I’m going to try making my very first skirt this weekend!
Yay! I’ve been needing a new skirt. (And a new cutting mat or gift cert. wouldn’t be bad either…)
Thanks these are great.
thanks for these! i need some spring skirts
I really like that wrap skirt–think I’ll need to try that…
Skiiiiiirrrrts!!
I’m starting to prefer skirts to shorts and pants. They’re more fun, and much more forgiving to those daily changes in weight/bloat, and there’s never a problem with too-short inseam!
spring has sprung… love the skirts and love the handbags!!
I’ve been skirt- and dress-crazy lately! I can’t wait for the weather to get warmer so I can make a ton of new skirts (pref. with pockets) and wear them everywhere.
Skirts! Skirts! Skirts!….I just cannot get enough of them. They fit better than most pants and cool in the summer. Thanks for a great giveaway.
Thankyou thankyou thankyou… I live in a small rural remote town – no access to any shops to buy patterns… or clothing for that matter.. I look forward to making my own now
I’ve only made a skirt or two for my 3 year old… i guess it’s time I give an adult one a go!
Beautiful skirts! Need to make a wrap skirt, now…
It’s just starting to seem like spring here, so some new skirts are in order! Thanks for sharing… I’m thinking about trying the 5 minute skirt today… fun!
Maybe it’s time to finish that skirt I started in December! Get those spring legs out from under those sweats ladies!!
great tutorials – perfect for spring!
I have some fabric that would be perfect for a skirt. Thanks for the inspiration.
My daughter will be wanting one of these skirts. Looks like a sewing lesson in there for her! Thanks for the help!
Thanks for inlcluding me. I used Amy’s tuttorial to turn a frumpy nighty into a slip and it worked so well and was so quick and easy!
These tutorials are excellent! Thank you!
Excellent. I was sorely tempted by the patterns at Fabricland this morning, but couldn’t bring myself to pay $20 for one.
No excuse not to make a skirt for DD now! Thanks for all these links and tutes….it’s enough to take the scare out and just get moving on a project.
Wow! What a great list of skirt tutorials. I just bought some cheap fabric to try some skirt patterns, and fit them to me. Now that I have so many more options, more fabric is in order. =)
Wow. These are all awesome tuts on making so many different skirts. I’ll have no reason not to make some adorable little skirts for my granddaughter now, will I?!
Thank you very much.
Thank you for this! I totally need to get cracking on some new spring skirts for me!
This is just what I was looking for—how did you know!?
I love all of those skirts! I can’t wait to make several new ones for the spring and summer!
Thanks for the great links!
The 5 minute skirt looks like a lot of fun!
The Kaisa skirt looks awesome. I can’t wait to try it out!
I have been wanting to make that 5 minute skirt for a while — now I have some other options too!
Skirts are such a satisfying sewing project.
This is so cool! I would love to sew more for myself and for my kids. My 6 yo is so hard to fit because she is tall enough to wear a size 8, but skinny enough to wear a 4/5 at the waist. And they just don’t make “princess” dresses…long skirts that she loves to create from whatever she can find.
I have been to all of the websites you listed to see these projects and I am ready to dive in again to sewing.
Two questions:
#1 How can I learn to sew straighter hems? Any tips, tricks?
#2 Wear can I purchase large tube knit? (it’s so easy to make skirts from that, but I can’t find it anywhere and no one at the fabric shops seem to know what I am talking about.)
I’m so excited about this post! I’m new to sewing, and still a little intimidated, but I just picked up some gorgeous Amy Butler fabric with the intention of making a skirt for myself… but wasn’t sure where to start. Thanks for all the inspiration!
I’ve been wanting to make some spring skirts and these are wonderful!
I bookmarked a bunch of these. I may not wear pants all summer! Thanks!
This is just the list I’ve been looking for. It’s easy to make skirts for my daughters, but I always have trouble finding skirt patterns for myself. Thank you!
Skirts skirts skirts! Thanks for all the happy links!
THANK YOU for all the wonderful links! i do LoVe skirts this time of year
Definitely in the skirt mood now. Thanks for the inspiration!
I need a new skirt and looking for ideas .. they seem pretty interesting!
I definitely need to try the 5 minute skirt. I love a skirt in the summer. Trendy, yet covers all the places that shorts don’t!
Love the 5 minute skirt. Thanks
Great round up of skirt tutorials! I’ve been itching to make a few skirts lately, so this came at the perfect time.
Thanks for the great links!
wonderful tuts!
I think I’ll be brave and try to whip up a skirt for myself for once. My 2 year old has more skirts than she can wear in a month, I swear !
Thanks for the tutorial links – I absolutely love the petticoat skirt. I will definitely have to check this tutorial out!
This is definitely on my to-do list!
I love skirts in the spring. Thank you!
Thanks for these great skirt patterns. Being a novice at sewing clothes, I especially appreciate the five-minute skirt tutorial and the directions for drafting A-line skirts. Keep up the great work!
Ok, feeling very inspired. Thanks for all of the ideas!
Wow, what a great round-up of tutorials! I love that “fast and cheap” skirt
I wish I would have found these BEFORE I made everyone’s Easter outfits! I’m going to have to think of another excuse now….Mother’s Day outfits?
Love the 5 minute skirt, although I’m sure it will take me longer than that.
Ooooh. I’ve been wanting to make a spring skirt, and now I have so many options! I’d love to win any one of the sewing gadgets, too…
Thanks for sharing these links! Excellent timing.
I went to the bookstore tonight with hopes to buy Sew What! But they didn’t have it. Will be trying out one of these generous ladies’ skirt tutorials this weekend while I wait for my Amy Butler pattern to arrive. Thanks for great review on that skirt pattern! Yours looks great
I am really excited to sew my first skirt (an amy butler pattern) on my birthday in may. Luckily, I will have the help of my mother’s wonderful seamstress skills. I hope to be able to have as nice of photos as those ladies above do someday! Wish me luck!
I would also love to make some skirts, but being a lady that’s in the overweight range with thick knees (genetic – doesn’t matter how thin we are) and big boned ankles, I’d like to make a comfortable longer skirt with an elastic waist band. I was thinking shin length or a little longer. I’ve done some google searches but am coming up dry. This will be my first clothing project in 38 years since home-ec!
thanks for any pointers,
anne
i know this was a while ago but i made a tutorial for a skirt made out of a table cloth.
thanks for all the links to the other skirts out there as well!
http://www.vanessachristenson.com/2009/06/tutorial-table-cloth-skirt.html
OOH, I love those patterns! I’m going to have to drag out my featherweight and go hunting for fabric now.
