Scrap Buster Contest Entry ~ Soothing Eye Mask Tutorial

Magda writes, “It is a quick to sew project and the finished product really is soothing! These make great gifts. The sample is made of two different fabrics and only less that 4″ by 8″ of each fabric and a bit of rice.” Take a look at her PDF Soothing Eye Mask Tutorial on Magda’s new blog, Artistic Thread Designs.

Oh, I could use one of these!
Neat! Does it matter what type of rice you use?
I make mine with flax seed and a bit of lavender. The flax is very slippery and small so it contours over eyes very comfortably which is important because I use mine most often when I have a headache! Mine could use an update. I’ve always used flannel, but I have some Tana lawn scraps that would be lovely for this. Thanks for the inspiration.
A short grain rice is best for this, but any rice will work.
This is wonderful! I’m making pamper bags for my daughters this Christmas. I have yet to find an eye mask pattern that I liked… until now. This month of Scrap Busting has been phenomenal. Well done, Sew Mama Sew!
ooh, sounds good for sinus headaches.
Ahhhh this will be relaxing for sore tired eyes. Love that it can go in the fridge to make a nice cool mask.
thanks

This project is fantastic – especially as here in Australia we are in Spring – the “sneezin’ season”. A word of caution – I would check with first aid authorities before using it near the temple area straight from the freezer. Thanks for the project. Regards Loretta
Thanks for sharing this project!! Is will be a great Christmas gift for my girlfriend that has Migraines. The instructions are very complete. Thanks for sharing the hand sewing instruction for finishing the project too, that is something I always struggle with.
Ah! Looks like heaven for the eyes!
