Kitten (Kid?) Proof Sewing Organizer for Sofa or Travel Susan from FlossieBlossoms shares this clever organizer tutorial for sewing on the go. Susan writes, ” I live in NW Arkansas in the Ozark Mts with one happy husband, 3 dogs and 4 rascally cats, one of whom prompted the invention of this particular sewing caddy– a kitten well-named ‘Nosey Parker,’ who wanted to eat my pins, needles and thread. Hence– a fold-up, portable, put-away-able sewing organizer/sofa caddy. I made this to fit MY needs, but it’s very customizable, I hope people will take what I’ve given them and change it if they need to and make it work for them. The caddy is very handy and would make a great gift for a sewer or stitcher. I made mine out of selvages, but I’ve also made several using regular quilting cottons and they always turn out great.” |

How Much Fabric Reference Cards
Gwyn Hug
- Skirts
- Pants
- Tops
- Dresses
- Jackets
- Sometimes the perfect fabric catches your eye and demands to be bought, but you do not have a particular pattern in hand. How much should you buy?
- These reference cards will help you estimate as accurately as possible, by providing tables that summarize actual fabric requirements from real patterns, broken down by outfit size and fabric width.
- Over 2,000 patterns were used to build the tables, including patterns from Simplicity, McCalls, Butterick, Vogue, Burda, Neue Mode, Kwik Sew, Hot Patterns, & New Look.

That spools of thread fabric is amazing! So cheerful and crafty.
I like the sewing organizer. I think I might have to make that.
So many great projects! I love seeing the vintage sewing machine journals . . . wouldn’t that silhouette be perfect for a wall art thingie? My other fav is the kitten-proof sewing organizer. My kitty loves to pull pins out of the pincusion with her sharp little teeth. Aargh! I need to make this little foldie organizer.
I definitely need to make some pin cushions!
I love the pincushion patterns. Would love to win the book. I’ve checked it out from the library and like it a lot. Thanks for the giveaways.
I like the needle case. I’ve been wanting to make one for myself, and this one is perfect. Hopefully it means no more lost needles!
That sewing organizer is a must for my list of things to make. Thanks for all the great ideas.

That Owl measuring tape is the absolute cutest thing! The Fabric reference cards would sure come in handy. I usually buy in 3 yard increments for apparel if I don’t have a plan but just love the fabric. For quilt fabrics, I buy in 1/2 yard increments because I love scrap quilts.
The owl measuring tape is adorable! And even now, only 10 days in, my mind is starting to boggle with all the things I want to make!!!
I’ve seen this book before and it is fabulous! Would love to have it in my collection. Thanks for a wonderful website. I visit everyday.
Man I love that pin cushion organizer. And it’s more complex than a lot of projects I’ve tried, so I’m really thinking about embracing the challenge.
Gluten Free!!!! I really enjoyed her blog. I am Celiac, and its so nice to see some more variety. The gifts for crafters are my fav as my Mom is an avid crafter and that is something we share together.

I love the kitty proof sewing kit. And the owl measuring tape for sale is too cute. Might need to buy that one!
Oh, how much money I would part with in a fabric with those “how much fabric” cards. I can’t tell you how many times that question has stopped me from buying fabric. With the answers in my pocket, who knows how dangerous I could be?
That owl measuring tape is too cute!
Great theme again! I especially love the crochet hook wrap – I think I’m going to turn it into a knitting needle version as a Christmas gift for a lovely knitter-friend of mine.
really beautiful stuff. I don’t have many real-life crafty friends but maybe I can keep trying to suck them in!

I love the sewing journal. Using something like this might help me to get off the couch and do something more enjoyable and keep track of my sewing. I wish I had started a long time ago.
How much fabric is brilliant. But what this crafter really needs is someone to put one more hour in the day and to come clean out my studio. Mkay?

I really like the idea of the sewing journal. I currently have tiny scraps of paper scattered around like confetti showing various family members’ measurements, design ideas, notes on how to do things. A book to put it all in would be fabulous….

I love cozies!!!
So many things to make today … woohoo!
I wonder when I’ll get around to making the pin cushion organizer?

They are all great project ideas, but I *need* the kitten-proof sewing organizer. Our Mr. Orange loves to get into the sewing items.
Cute stuff – but I wish you would showcase one of the tutorial items on the front page photo (before the jump) on some of the days. Every day I see a cute little photo teaser and think I’m going to get instructions on how to make it, only to find that it is a for sale item. I do love supporting handmade artisans, but I think most of us are here because we want to make things ourselves; otherwise we’d be cruising etsy instead. Just my 2 cents – but I am loving the handmade holidays, so thanks for all your compilations!

Love the “housewife” – I will be making a couple of those…And the crochet roll is exactly what I am needing at the moment! And the book on cozies! I love cozies! And I have no idea how to make one.
Awesome ideas!
I love the crochet roll, and really need one. My hooks keep falling out of my container and they’re a pain when they get underneath tables. Also the organizer, I need one of them so people don’t have to keep getting up from the couch to help me find things!
Yum! The cupcakes look scrummy! And perfect for sharing with family as they are gluten free
And the crochet roll is the perfect addition to a present I am making.

This post reminds me that I am in need of those adorable pins!! Look at the cute ones with the birdies on them!
I would love to make cozies for everyone for Christmas!

yay, pincushions!
now you’re talking my language – crafts for crafts! I have always wanted a pincushion with different ‘sections’ where I could keep different needles for my sewing machine (organized by size, ballpoint, heavy duty, etc). This patchwork pincushion would be perfect for that.
I’ve got knitting needle rolls on my project list this month. I’ll have to take a close look at this project.
So many wonderful ideas for special crafty friends (and I love the organizers)!
The embroidery card printables are cool. I wonder how well they stand up.
Any crafting aid that is potentially kid-proof is a winner in my book!
