April 20 ~ Quilt of the Day

Save All Your Kisses by Leila, LeilaBadblood
Leila writes, “I made this quilt using linen and cotton from some of our old clothes and some thrifted ones. Kisses say it all by themselves! I love to use soft and comfortable, natural materials that have already had a life, in the way quilts were traditionally made. One can tell a story or rekindle memories just by studying the different patterns and shapes. My husband Andrew fell in love with this quilt and took it for himself. I’ve been taking commissions from friends to make quilts made with their own family’s clothing from past and present. It’s an exciting way to work.” Here’s the other side of this 35″ x 38″ quilt!

Very cute. I’ve been thinking a lot about quilting with clothes. It’s good to see it put into action!
This is one of the best quilts I have ever seen. The front is cool and nice and everything, but the back is enough to make you stop and stare and remember why you wanted to make quilts in the first place.
Beautiful, beautiful.
If this quilt doesn’t inspire a person to quilt, I don’t know what would! This is so special!
Cute idea!
Love the red and white
I love this idea (kisses quilt)–will the maker share how she made the X blocks?
I love this quilt! I also enjoy working with used and pre-loved fabrics in the traditional quilting mode. Beautiful!

I love that she used old clothes! What a great idea!
This is a very neat and cute quilt!
This is such a stunning quilt even though it is simple in design. I love the wonky kisses and the back of the quilt is just as good – it’s no surprise that Leila’s husband claimed this quilt for himself!
The name of this quilt makes it extra special!
I love this one. My hubby and I do the xoxoxoxo at the end of online chats. I wonder how I could do a quilt like that?
Very unique!
How sweet that your husband loves your work!

The back is amazing – what a cute quilt!
I like this quilt. I think it is so great that she used material from old clothing.
That is so cute. Such a good idea!
My daughter who is not a quilter sent this to me. She thought this was just so cute!!! Wonder if that means I have to make one? Love the idea of going back to the original idea of quilting …. using re-purposed fabrics for quilts. Talk about going green!!!!
Do I love the quilt or do I love how sweet it is that your hubby wanted it? Either way, it’s great!
Great idea. So cute.

The quilts featured on “Quilt of the day” are just fabulous! Like this one, I love that they’re not traditional and show some flair. They make quilting appear a bit more doable and fun.

What a cute idea!
Beautiful — I made something similar using pieces of all of my daughter’s old receiving blankets. I love how the fabrics all work together despite having never been intended for each other. Using preloved fabric is great!
That is such a sweet quilt. Love the use of old clothes.
Smart! Way to take something old and loved and make it into something new and loved!

Beautiful quilt! Kisses are great!
After seeing this quilt, I pulled out some scraps that I didn’t know what to do with and made several of these “kisses” Thought they would be cute with some “O’s” but not sure how to go about that…Anyway cute quilt. Thanks for the inspiration and a new way to use up scraps and “loved” fabrics!
I love this quilt. It’s sweet but not cloying. I love that your husband glomed the quilt-too cute!

This is great! I love that the front and back are equally gorgeous!
I would guess her kids LOVE cuddling under this one and knowing their Mama loves them enough to keep their clothing and reuse it to make them something special enough to keep them warm or just provide comfort. Isn’t that what quilts are for? This is great!
How creative…love the re-purposing.
Great reuse idea, and what a wonderful back!
Great way to use scraps – lovely
