April 21 ~ Quilt of the Day

Jewel Squares by Shea, the empty bobbin
Shea writes, “It is a baby quilt made by me for our daughter, Eleanor. I had the book Glorious Patchwork on my shelf for a couple of years, knowing that some day I would make that Jewel Squares quilt on the cover for our first child. I picked mostly neutral fabrics since we weren’t finding out of we were having a boy or a girl. However, I didn’t get it finished until she was 18 months old (and a big sister)! Oops! This was also my first attempt a paper piecing– I loved it.” Shea writes a more about the quilt (which she says was an “intense” quilt to create!) on her blog.
Glorious Patchwork with the Jewel Squares pattern is by Kaffe Fassett. Don’t miss yesterday’s interview with Kaffe, and your chance to win his newest book.
