April 26 ~ Quilt of the Day

Triangles Quilt by Abi, *Snippets and Blabbery*
Abi writes, “…I was kind of following Denyse Schmidt’s pattern from her book Quilts, but I think she calls for 6″ squares, and I used a couple charm packs. So they were smaller 5″ squares. And then I wanted to enlarge it, but I didn’t do my math very well. I added triangles to the ends of the rows, which resulted in a very short, wide quilt. By that point, I was a little tired of the small triangles, so I made a couple rows of big triangles for the top and bottom. I had a lot of yardage of a few prints… so I made the top and bottom big-triangle rows all the same color. This is still my favorite pattern using charm squares– so simple. My lines aren’t perfect, and my quilting is pretty crazy, but that’s how it goes sometimes!”

Thanks for picking my quilt!
Love it! Being a quilter means always thinking on you toes!
Good work
Good use of charm squares!
I like it!!!
Its really nice. Love the color choices.
This looks like the perfect quilt to curl up with on a cool fall day.
So cute! I love the color combinations!
Like your idea of the larger triangles for the top and bottom. Would definitely put the Connecting Threads gift certificate to good use. The way they coordinate their fabric, kits, thread, and patterns is inspiring. Plus their lessons on stars, 9 patch, etc. are great for beginners.
I love it too. Great colors.
Love triangle quilts and this one is gorgeous!
“My lines aren’t perfect, and my quilting is pretty crazy, but that’s how it goes sometimes!” Thank you! I think we all forget this too often!
Good use of triangles!
love it!
The stunning fabrics really make this quilt. Would love to see a full (big triangle) shot.
I like!
Nice quilt!
I love the quilt. Her improvization is understandable and admirable and it looks fantastic! Sounds like she approaches her challenges the same way I do. Love it!
I think it’s really adorable! And I love the brown fabric with the polka dots. Thanks for admitting that not all quilters are perfect–I was beginning to think I was the only one who struggles!
cute!
I love these cozy colours!! Beautiful… and great adaptations!
Just my colors!
Love this quilt – it’s so beautiful!
Love the triangles big and small! And love the colours/ fabrics you used.
Very nice!
Lovely fabric.
Pretty.
Beautiful quilt!
A beautiful result!
I love this. And your story about how it came together inspires me bc/ it shows that while quilting can be perfect and tedious, it can also be beautiful when you’re just winging it as you go.
I love it!! I really think the large triangles give it a lot more interest and makes it a really neat pattern.
This is great!
You did a great job. I love the colors.
Beautiful!
I love seeing the variety in the quilts and I find it so refreshing to see them posted each day!!
love flying geese!
I’ve followed the same quilt pattern using browns and greens… but I love your version, and I love the prints you chose! Nice job!
The colors are so warm and cozy feeling. Love it!
I like the fact that you can live with not so perfect!
Very sweet and I love using charm packs too!
I really loved this book and it inspired me too! Only I don’t have any quilts to show for it yet.
Great fabrics and I like the two different sized triangles!
I really liked reading your story of the quilt. It’s great for those of us new to sewing to read that others encounter challenges too.
Really nice! I like that you aren’t a perfectionist.
I love the quilt. And I love how you used what you had to make it work. That’s what quilting is all about!
Love the colors! I made a Flock of Triangles quilt last year for a new baby cousin but the colors were much more muted.
Well, I think the quilt is fabulous. I love the triangles.
This is so pretty. I absolutely love the colors. This would be a great pattern for a scrap quilt.
I love the colours in this quilt.
Love the earthy colors.
I think your improvisation sounds like lots of fun. Great job.
I love the imperfections of this beautiful quilt — it makes quilting seem less strict and intimidating.
Fun quilt!
Beautiful colors! I love the improvisation, too!
The colors are very pretty on this quilt and I love it that you make math mistakes too!
Sometimes mistakes make a quilter creative. Lovely quilt.
It’s fabulous!
Very prettty!
Straight lines are not of importance–it’s the beauty of the whole quilt when it’s finished that makes quilting so appealing to me!
This is gorgeous. Thanks for telling us about the imperfections. It’s so encouraging.
sooo nice!
Hey Abi, I really like your quilt. It looks great and the colors used gives a sort of warmth feeling to the quilt.
Amazing colors. And I love the bi triangles. I love how quilts are so often the children of inspired invention by necessity.
I LOVE those triangles! So pretty!
PRETTY! PRETTY!
great quilt.
really great colours.
Love charm quilts, if they are scraps from other quilts then it becomes a memory quilt too.
That is a very nice quilt, I adore flying geese.
This is really good…I love the colours…I keep seeing these orangey, brown fabrics in quilts and think they look really good.
Beautiful quilt! Love those flying geese!
Glad to read that someone else retooled a pattern to match the fabric they had in hand. Looks like was intended to be the way it was made. Love it.
Great job! A Flying Geese quilt will definitely my next project. Thanks for the inspiration =0)
I love the different sized triangles
That sounds like the description of just about everything I make! LOL! I was kinda doing this, but I used that instead, and then I didn’t do the math quite right so I fudged this and added that… but it turned out ok, and I kinda like it. Ha ha ha!!
another stunning quilt – great scrap project
I wish my on-the-fly projects would turn out so cute. I usually end up with a date with my seam ripper. I really like the larger triangles to set off the top and bottom. Great job!!
I LOVE the way this looks.
I love this!!!
this is AMAZING… i love love love the color scheme!
Ooh it looks lovely- the white makes it really restful.
