Fat Quarter Swap
We had so much fun with last year’s Fat Quarter Swap so we’re doing it again! Send off some favorite fat quarters and get something new, fun and different in return. We all love good mail, right?
Here’s how it will work: You send us your name and address. We’ll put you in a group with four other people. Send each of them 1 fat quarter and they’ll send one to you. You’ll get 4 new fat quarters!
Remember, a fat quarter is 18″ x 22″. Since you’re sending out 4 fat quarters, you could (but don’t have to) cut up a yard and send out the 4 pieces. (Make sure you cut it correctly. See this post.) Fabrics should be 100% cotton. (How can you tell? You can cut a tiny sliver of the fabric and burn it with a match. Cotton will leave an ash residue. Polyester or nylon fibers in fabric will leave you with some “chunks” of residue.) Also, we hope that you will share something pretty, bold or cute– Not just the print that you inherited from your grandma (although vintage fabric can be wonderful!). You know what we’re saying.

- Email address (We know that we can get it from the email, but it’s easier for us if it is in the body.)
- Your address
- One swap or two (sending 4 FQs or 8)?
- Are you willing to ship internationally? (Depending on the destination, shipping might be $2–$3.)
Swap sign-ups will remain open until 5:00 p.m. on Monday (4-5-10). We’ll email you with the addresses of your swap group within one week. (If there is a chance that you won’t be able to follow through, please don’t sign up. Four people will be counting on you. We’ll have another chance for you to play in the future!) Ready? Set? Swap!

I can’t do it this year but I did last year. Amazingly 3 of the 4 fat quarters matched wonderfully with the one I sent and I just finished a skirt for my daughter with it for Easter! Swaps rock!

*whew* just remembered that I signed up for this swap and got a little panicky. Thought the email either didn’t go through or the info on my swap partners didn’t arrive. Looks like it could still be on the way. Hoping so! Maybe I will send another email just in case.
Just my luck to miss a fabric swap. I did this several years ago and we did 9 in squares. It was great, because I was able to accumulate several plastic shoe boxes full of squares. I was doing a lot of appliquing back then.
Anyone get info on this yet? I haven’t gotten an email yet and I’m worried I missed it somehow.
