October 12 ~ The Pea Pod Hip Carrier Tutorial + The Red Pistachio Giveaway
Check in every day for your chance to win something special in our Baby Shower!
Sascha Romeo from Piccoli Piselli is a thoughtful, creative designer and busy mama to three lucky children. She sews up a storm and shares it all on her blog with humor and grace. Sascha generously shares this brilliant Pea Pod Hip Carrier tutorial and pattern today, and she’s also offering a chance to win one of TWO Pea Pod Hip Carriers at Piccoli Piselli. The carriers you see on the pattern cover are in Sascha’s giveaway. One of the carriers matches a tutorial for a safety harness/shopping cart seatbelt pattern also offered on Sascha’s site today. Don’t miss it!

Sascha Romeo from Piccoli Piselli designed this baby carrier to be worn on the hip. The adjustable two buckle closure allows for easy on and off, and it carries babies from approximately 5 months (or when baby can hold head upright with good neck control) up to 35 pounds. This carrier will quickly become your “go to” carrier for quick trips into stores. It takes less than one minute to put on and carry baby… Considerably less time than most front/back baby carriers. The wide shoulder strap is meant to be worn on the ball of your shoulder taking the strain off your neck. The child’s weight is distributed evenly and this carrier can be worn with great comfort leaving your hands free.

This is sooo lovely. Would love it for my sister who is due and January and they haven’t found out what they are having : )
I want one of those! 8D
Love the idea of a carrier made for carrying baby on the hip rather than front/back. Very cool!
Wow, how generous is Sascha to offer this pattern to us for free!!! When I was making baby carriers (a few years ago) there were only a couple vague descriptions on how to make slings available online for free. Nothing that was as well written and designed as this. Thank you so much for your generous sharing.
awesome baby carrier! Thank you so much!
I love baby carriers! Ooo, and that pistachio giveaway is to die for! Gorgeous!
Oh I love Chenille.
that gift set is beautiful! would love one for the spring baby we are expecting!
That carrier is amazing! All of your giveways for this week have been more than superb!
Amazing! And now I finally have something good to use the new Heather Ross fabric for.
That gift set is lovely! The hip carrier looks great. Really looking forward to this week. Adds a touch more excitement to entering the third trimester of my pregnancy
.
That baby set is so adorable and would be a perfect gift for my friend with a baby on the way!
The peapod looks like an awesome carrier. Thanks so much for sharing the pattern!
I usually use a sling carrier, but this one looks very comfortable for a bigger baby.
You guys definately know how to throw a shower in style. Looking forward to the rest of this week, since everyone I know is pregnant right now.
That is such a great carrier!! Thanks for sharing it with us.
The hip carrier looks great for older babies like mine. And I love that bright, happy orange print in the gift set.
Oh oh, just what I need! About a week before I discovered I was expecting, I cleaned house and got rid of my store bought carrier, plus a bunch of other baby stuff. Now I have a chance to make a cool homemade one! Thank You!
Thanks for such a cute giveaway!
Yellow – my favorite color – thanks for the great giveaway
I love the faux bois!

Oh, my daughter will love this! Thank you for the tutorial!
This looks like a fantastic use of nap time sewing breaks to me!
I love that tutorial!
As my 6 month old son is getting bigger this hip carrier would be great!
i think i know at least a half dozen people who are pregnant RIGHT NOW, and at least another dozen that are trying or have just had one (or two!), this series is FANTASTIC!
Love the hip carrier! I’ve tried other types but never this type!
I am expecting my third baby and would LOVE to have this fabulous carrier for when he arrives! Thanks for sharing the tutorial!

Thank you so much for this–I love this style!
Love the pirate theme baby shower!
Sooo cute! I love baby carriers!
Thanks for the tutorial!
I haven’t seen a carrier like this before–awesome. I’m expecting my first in February and am loving your “Baby Shower” week. So many great resources…thank you!
How clever! Thanks for offering it.
Love it!
Love the hip carrier. I always preferred to carry my little one on my hip rather than strapped to my front or back.
What a great tutorial! I just wish I had the time to make it. Maybe after Christmas.
I made myself something similar and it’s been my go-to carrier. Thanks for the tute!
Awesome pattern…my littlest might almost be too big, but I’d be tempted to try it anyway! A great gift this would make for others too!
I agree with Jessica- you guys really know how to throw a fabulous baby shower!
This looks like a fun carrier. I usually prefer a ring sling, but this looks great. Thanks for the giveaway.
Oh, I can’t wait to make this carrier. My 5 month old doesn’t like to be carried in a sling, but I think she will like this because it let her move her arms.
Also, love that yellow. So bright and cheerful!
i love the colors and the chenille!
i love the fabric she used!
I love this!
I love the idea of personalizing a baby carrier with my own fabric selection!
Holy heck, this is awesome. My toddler has hit a must-be-held stage, and it’s killing my arms and back. This will make both of us happy!
Get pattern – can’t wait to make some for the new mom’s in my life! : )
Such a great idea for a carrier! My daughter has a blanket from The Red Pistachio and she carries it around with her all the time!
I would love one of these, the idea is fantastic!
thanks for the printable it’s so cute.
So darn cute!
I love those colors in the gift set! And I’m seriously interested to see if that hip carrier could work for my crazy mover.
What a cute hip carrier! With 4 (5?) babies coming to friends in the next few months, I see I’ll be quite busy with these.
Really cool carrier – I love trying all sorts of new ones!
The carrier is great and what a super gift it would make–esp. for first time moms! Thanks!
That looks different than all the other/usual carriers – how neat!
Everything is so adorable!!
I usually use a sling carrier – but this one looks really nice – especially for an older child.
This would be a wonderful giveaway for the WIC moms I work with! We are always trying to make them feel like great moms and pamper themselves a little.
Thanks for the chance!
Ooh, I bet my sister would like that carrier. Thanks!
What a neat pattern, would make a great shower gift.
I love the fabrics! Very nice and bright colors.
I love the look of these carriers – they look so much more comfortable than the front/back carriers! Super cute fabric choices too!
wonderful.
Love the carrier — especially the scooter fabric!
Love the hip carrier pattern! I can’t wait to make it.
And the choice of material used in that beautiful giftset is so refreshing.
Thanks for sharing!
Makes want to have another baby to fit into one of these! But that doesn’t mean I can’t make for someone, anyone who has a baby. Thanks for the really generous tute!
I’ve been wanting to try something like this out. Thanks for the tutorial and pattern.
What a great carrier!
I love those yellow/orange fabrics. I made throw pillows out of that collection!
This makes me excited to be expecting again.
Love the fabric! I also love that it is so quick to put on and take off. That is my gripe with the carrier I am using now.
I love the fabric for the ‘Chenille Baby Gift Set’.
oh my! This looks so cute!
What an adorable carrier!
Looks great – I LOVE the fabric.
Hope it is not too late to enter! I have 5 friends/family members that are due in the next 6 months! Don’t know if I can get presents made for all before the babies arrive! Will bookmark the tutorial under future projects!
Practical directions are good.
Thank you so much for such a great tutorial!
Adorable carrier.
The pirate stuff is fabulous!
I love all those prints! I love orange!
Thanks for the great tutorial! It will get some good use!
oooooh! This is so cute! Thanks for the tutorial!
Oh, that would be a great gift for my niece! The baby is due Nov. 10th.
This pattern is exactly what I’ve been looking for! My little guy is a chunk and was too heavy for his carrier months ago. That scooter print is killing me. Adorable!
My twin grandbabies are becoming harder to carry. They were preemies, and we are so grateful they have grown big and strong. This carrier would be a big help.
Lovely color!
I love this!
That gift set is so beautiful! I hope I win!
So cute! Thanks!
Love the Chenille Baby Gift Set! We’re expecting our second and won’t find out the gender so this would be perfect!
THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!! I have a six month old that is getting bigger and bigger and is so hard to carry around in the carseat and too big for the front pack carrier. I was just wondering today how I was going to carry him (and keep up with the 2 year old) when we are running errands when he grew out of the carseat (fast approaching). Then I saw this!!! This is perfect. Thank you for generously sharing the pattern and instructions.
I love them! Thanks for the tutorial.
Great tutorial, too bad my kids are too big now.
WHat a beautiful gift set – perfect for my future grandchild!
Love them all. Thanks for the giveaway and for the tutorials. xx
What an awesome carrier!
Wow what a gorgeous gift set…I just love it. I look forward to reading through the tutorial also. Thanks!
What a great set! I’d love this for a dear friend expecting twins.
Thank you for the tutorials, I love baby carrying!!
The tutorial pdf link says it is corrupted and not able to be fixed. I can’t download it. I really want this. Please help. Thanks!
Love it!
Oh my. That’s gorgeous!
Woohoo! This is so awesome. Great for gifts, great for myself. Cute. Functional. A big THANKS to you for sharing it!
Wow! I am impressed with the carrier and interested to see if I can win! Thanks for sharing
I would love to win the carrier, but if not, I’m going to enjoy the challenge of making it, thank you so much Sascha for the tutorial!
I must make that pea pod hip carrier. Too bad my baby is 9.
Absolutely amazing–pea pod carrier: MUST MAKE! Chenille baby set: MUST HAVE!
I can’t wait to try the hip carrier. It’s exactly what I’ve been needing lately.
Love it and this would be perfect for my baby which is due any time now!!
