Summer Sewing ~ Grocery Bag Stuff Sack
Are you planning a car trip this summer? Do you need extra bags in the car for wet beach clothes or after-picnic recyclables? Erin from Dog Under My Desk joins us today with a fun + free PDF tutorial for you to download. Print out instructions for a Grocery Bag Stuff Sack, get to work and pretty soon you’ll always have handy, extra bags in the car! Learn more about Erin in her introduction, and take a look at Erin’s shop for more of Erin’s designs and patterns.

Erin writes, “I’ve been on a bit of an appliqué kick lately, so I thought this little grocery bag stuff sack would be really cute for keeping extra grocery bags handy to recycle as trash bags for the car! If you skip the appliqué, this bag would be great to hold small toys for the kids on road trips or even a ball of yarn!”

The finished size is about 5″ wide by 6″ tall by 4″ deep. Download the Trash Can Appliqué design, and then print out your Grocery Bag Stuff Sack PDF Tutorial. Have fun sewing!

This week you could win a complete fat quarter pack of Spring Street by Carolyn Gavin, Crafting a Meaningful Home by Meg Mateo Ilasco or a $25 Gift Certificate to Sew,Mama,Sew! Comment on any post this week for your chance to win!

great idea. cute applique.
This will make a great travel bag for our grandchildren who are heading off on a 22 hour driving trip next week! Thanks for sharing.
This bag is a great size. We keep a bag of bags in our mudroom, but it’s nowhere near so cute. I’ve added this project to my list. (We all have a list, right?)
pretty idea!it’s very useful to keep in order my car…I have always a lot of things in it!!!
That looks like the perfect size for plastic carrier bags
Thanks for the free pattern.
i like the image on the side. it gives the impression of a throw-evertything-in-invitation. if you know what i mean. perfect for a last minute run through the home, grabbing everything that should’nt be left before leaving to the beach..
Great idea and easy to follow tute. Erin’s Yorkies are adorable.
Thanks! This is just what I needed.
Thanks! I was looking for something like this!
awesome thanks for the pdf! beach bags for wet stuffs are always handy to have in the summer!
Very useful and cute at the same time.
Great idea! I’ve been thinking of something like this to attach to a larger grocery tote to keep those smaller produce bags so I’ll remember to reuse them on the next trip! I think this could do the job. Thanks!!
Nice! A simple solution to an everyday problem.
Cute–I like the drawstring top to keep everything contained.
This would be a handy bag for knitting projects! Thanks!
I can see multiplr purposes for this neat bag. Thanks for the pattern.

Hooray! ANOTHER bag!
I love anything with appliqué.
Super cute (and handy!) bag!!!
This would be perfect for me to keep in the car to put recyclables. I’m in my car a lot for work and go through a lot of diet cokes, but don’t want to throw the cans away because I want to recycle them. Perhaps I should applique a recycling symbol on the front.
That’s a great yarn bag & the applique is adorable. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for providing this entry. I really liked it. Keep up the quality work, man!

This bag would be useful for so many things. Thank you for all the great tutorials and inspiration.
That is such a good idea. I often forget to bring the eco bags for the groceries because they make the car so messy. I just might make them a pretty bag and then they will always be in my car!!
Great little bag, it’s on my list too.
very handy and timely! Thanks for the idea!

Its adorable and in my favorite color combo. Adding to my pinterest
This is almost perfect for what I envisioned. A bag for all of the poo bags (empty, of course) I bring on my dog walks. Maybe adding a zipper pocket for a few treats and a small amount of money would take it to the ideal!
Good idea. Even if I am not going on a trip I need extra trash bags in the car. Nicely done tutorial. Thanks
What a cute idea! I love the applique! Now I want to applique everything.
Oh the bags- even though I try always to reuse my plastic bags, I always end up with them multiplying in the back porch- anything to corral them is much appreciated!
Oh this is perfect for a trip with little ones! Thank you!
This would be a great addition to my travel trailer to keep the grocery bags. I use them as trash bags.
