Girl’s World Review + Giveaway
Jane Dagmi from wantneedxoxo and Miss Blogworthy doesn’t sew. Even with this caveat she found Jennifer Paganelli’s new Girl’s World: Twenty-One Sewing Projects to Make for Little Girls to be a really fun, inspiring book and she found some great projects to jump into as well.
We love Jennifer Paganelli, and of course her fabric and patterns too. We’ve eagerly awaited the publication of her new book, where her vibrant, colorful and girly aesthetic delights, page after page. We’ll have another review for Girl’s World coming up next. Comment on either post for your chance to WIN a copy of the book! Tell us who you’d sew for if you had a new copy of Girl’s World…

I don’t sew, but that didn’t stop me from buying Jennifer Paganelli’s Girl’s World: Twenty-One Sewing Projects to Make for Little Girls.

Beyond needle and thread, this book is all about inspiring with color, exciting pattern and sparkle. Plus, there are a few fabric-less projects which merely require a hot glue gun and a dose of creative passion… And that I’ve got!
If you enjoy playing with pretty things, decorating, crafting, and making life a bit more beautiful, then you should add Girl’s World to your library. For the non-sewers among us, here are the top 5 reasons why you will love this book too:
1. There are a few projects-– the Hadley Headband, Goodwill Badge, Floral Lamp Shade– that don’t require sewing skills at all. There are also a few projects that call for easy sewing such as the Flower Pin Barrette, or projects that can be adapted for colorful patterned paper and glue or tape.
2. The individual chapter pages can be color copied and used as pretty frames. Just cut out the shapely middle part with all the words and you’ve got a nifty opening to pop in a favorite photo. (Exhibit A: My grandmother.)

A photo of Jane’s grandmother, in a frame inspired by Jennifer’s book.
3. The sewing pattern newsprint can be recycled for gift wrap, shipping breakables, or general craft purposes. It can also be used to make very cool paper flowers.
4. Tim Geaney’s photography is delicious and the styling is delightful. Beyond the featured projects there are great accessorizing ideas and scenarios that can be applied to your own wardrobe, hair styling, decorating, and parties.
5. This is a great color reference book. Bold juicy hues and nostalgic patterns provide an emotional boost. Simply thumbing through gets me some happy. And I am sure it will get you some too.

We’re celebrating the Grand Opening of the Sew,Mama,Sew! Book Shop this week! We have lots of opportunities to win new books, with some fun project downloads too. Order a book by 11:59 PM PDT on July 17 and we’ll send you a coupon for 15% off your next fabric and pattern order.

“The sewing pattern newsprint can be recycled for gift wrap, shipping breakables, or general craft purposes. It can also be used to make very cool paper flowers.” My jaw is hitting the floor! I think these are terrible uses for something someone has put a lot of work into. At the very least I would suggest the patterns be passed along to someone who could use them.
The book is beautiful and its photos are artfully done.
