How to Make a Drawstring Bag
Drawstring bags are so much fun to sew. They’re perfect for Back to School prep, for party favors, for organizing items when you pack, for storing toys and games… They’re versatile, easy to make and it seems you can never have too many! We love to use them to wrap gifts as a beautiful, reusable option for the holidays.

Oh, love this post! I want to make some drawstring rucksacks for my niece and nephews for Sinterklaas and this will be a lot of help
Esther.
I love drawstring bags. I have made them as my wrapping of choice for that ecofriendly gift wrapping..The best part is that you can size them to fit your package, add a pocket here and there, make them double duty with a beautiful lining,,they are a creative canvas waiting for ones creative options… Great variations here..Thanks for the reminder to start sewing for the holidays!!! and for school openings…
Lovin all these – can’t wait to make some for my daughter and her friends!
How interesting! I am so useless when it comes to sewing!
Our kids love drawstring bags they are always carrying one with dolls, cars, books and a lot of diferent toys. We like to make a modified version of the Reversible Patchwork Bag by Pink Penguin and we are inspired by the Lined Drawstring Bag by The Creative Place. Thanks for sharing these great ideas.
I love making these. I made some for my grandsons using superhero fabric. They loved them!
Such a practical drawstring bag and it suits the young active generation..and it is sweet and unique if we can sew colourful beads or put handmade embroidery on it!
I use a drawstring tutorial from a Sewing with Nancy book. They are perfect for storing my son’s small toys in. I have also made them for treat bags for birthday parties. I love all these tutorials – the bags are so cute!
I think I’m going to make some of these for Christmas gift wrapping, instead of paper. How cute would they be for small gifts for kids?
I love the reversible drawstring bag!
Drawstring bags are also good for trick-or-treat bags. For any of those super organized people who are already planning Halloween costumes, it’s fun to have a matching bag!
Love this pattern. Will use denim fabric for an outdoors look.
I am planning a couple of these for my boys’ endless collections of treasures! Pinecones, rocks, pennies…
Must confess that everyone needs at least a drawstring bag. Fun and easy to make
Awesome post! I’ve been looking for some easy gift bag patterns, and haven’t totally settled on one I like 100% just yet. I hope I’ll find a good one in here, but more specifically one that doesn’t require a sewing machine (I much prefer to hand sew!).
Thanks for the patterns!
Those are some super cute bags!
Ayumi’s reversible bag was the first thing I ever made! here tutorials are always so clear with great pictures!

Hey would you mind stating which blog platform you’re working with? I’m going to start my own blog soon but I’m having a hard time choosing between BlogEngine/Wordpress/B2evolution and Drupal. The reason I ask is because your design and style seems different then most blogs and I’m looking for something unique. P.S Sorry for getting off-topic but I had to ask!
