Perfect Zip Bags Inspiration ~ Bento Box Lunch Bag
You can receive a free copy of the Perfect Zip Bags Pattern by Elizabeth Hartman (a $10 value) with your order of $30 or more. Check out this post for all the details.
The truth is, there are some things you just can’t make. I’ve been meaning to get nice metal bento boxes for my husband and kids all year. Christmas is a good time for me to work the expense into a different budget. But metal box alone? Boring! Metal box in lovely lunch bag with cute utensils and a matching napkin? A wonderful gift that I hope will be appreciated.

Fabric
Echo by Lotta Jansdotter and Kona Cotton
Perfect Zip Bag
style C large
Interlining
I wanted the bag to be fairly soft but not stiff, so I used SF101 interfacing next to the exterior fabric and a layer of cotton twill as interlining.

Modification
I added an interior patch pocket (click to learn more.) The finished size of the pocket is 6.25″ (w) x 5.5″ (h). The top of the pocket was attached 3.25 inches dowm from the top of the front lining piece. I stitched a line to divide the pocket with one side for a napkin and the other for utensils. The line is 2.25″ over from the right side of the pocket.

(I promise it is straight. It’s just that wonky fabric.)
I hope you’ll be inspired to use the Perfect Zip version C to create your own lunch bag! Check back tomorrow for more Perfect Zip ideas.
