Personalized Hobby Bag
When I’m trying to think of great holiday gifts, the recipient’s hobby often comes to mind. The trick is thinking of something that the person doesn’t already have. Presenting a small hobby gift, such as a compact flash card or a new set of colored pencils, in a personalized bag can make a wonderful gift that everyone can appreciate.

Fabric
Camera Bag: Essex Linen and Lark by Amy Butler
Lola Bag: Essex Linen and Stitch by Betz White

Perfect Zip Bag
style B large
Interlining
cotton flannel

Embroidery
For the Lola bag I simply wrote the name in water-soluble ink, then used a running stitch to do the embroidery. On the camera bag, I used this template from Crafty CPA (thank you!) I had to reduce it quite a bit to fit on my bag, which made some of the stitching a bit tricky, but all-in-all, I think my photographer husband will enjoy it.

Modification
On the back of these bags I put in zippered welt pockets for extra little tools you might not want bumping around with the rest of the contents. For great instructions on putting in this type of pocket, see this tutorial written for Sew,Mama,Sew! by Autum of Creative Little Daisy. Autum also explains how to use a glue stick or double-sided tape to insert a zipper, rather than pins, which is a technique that I use for all my zippers.

I hope you’ll be inspired to use the Perfect Zip style B to create your own Personalized Hobby Bag! Please share your ideas for personalizing and gifting this type of bag.
