Do you want to contribute?!

We’re looking for contributors! We’ll introduce you to over a quarter of a million subscribers and we’ll give you some new fabric too… We’re looking for tutorials related to the following topics:

• “Back to Basics”-type tutorials: Very clear, easy instructions with fantastic step-by-step photos for basic items like totes, easy skirts, kid pants/shorts, potholders, etc. + techniques like making bias tape, sewing a binding on a quilt, using elastic thread, etc.– It should be something you’ve made tons of times.
• Christmas in July (or August!): Check out the holiday-related tutorials already on the blog and propose something new!
• Intermediate Apparel Techniques: Again, take a look at what we have here and here and propose something new.

We love clear photos in natural light and clear, step-by-step instructions. Email us (beth@sewmamasew.com) with your ideas, summer availability and a few examples of your sewing (links are better than photo attachments).

   I don’t know if this is something that you’d be interested in, but I have posted a Scrappy Card tutorial on my blog. It can be used for holidays or just for a fun card using up scraps of fabric.

   Back to School basics – at the request of my son’s principal, I designed custom portfolios to hold a legal pad and papers. The school was being evaluated and wanted to gift all the evaluators

   I made a ton of them, and they turned out so awesome! Totally forgot to blog them It would be great for high school or college kids to carry around.

   I have no idea why I didn’t get any pictures of them filled?! It was a crazy time making 20 of these with matching lanyards – all different. But here are a couple links:

   I have some tips for keeping your interfacing in place and making your turned edge look nice.

   I would LOVE to contribute a tutorial. I am most interested in doing more advanced garment tutorials. I make all my husband’s shirts, and have a nifty way to make a collar reduces bulk in the points. Also – how to make a “non-pointy” bust dart would be helpful to many people. I also love couture sewing, and some techniques could be considered “intermediate” – such as catchstitching seam allowances or applying Hong Kong binding. This would be so fun – thanks for considering my ideas! Squeal!!

   I could contribute a tutorial on a beach bag made from hardware mesh. I have a pattern I designed called “”Beachy Mesh” but need to put it into a turtoial format. I have intended to put this on my blog…this would be the push needed. I am a fairly new blogger so this would be a great opportunity.
