What a fantastic, informative, and funny post! I grew up going to art & craft fairs with my parents, and it’s so true that you can make beautiful work, but that doesn’t necessarily mean you can sell it well.

great post! Lots of helpful tips – I’m just starting out and set to do 2 shows in the next 6 weeks. Last year I did 2 and found myself not quite knowing how to engage potential buyers without feeling pushy about it. Doing a demonstration is definitely an ice-breaker! Also the informative signage is great – I’ll be implementing a lot of these ideas. Thanks, Candy!

Thank you so much for sharing. I have been participating in craft shows for many years and this was a great write-up of tips and suggestions. One comment I always seem to get at shows is “You MADE all of this?”. Sometimes it is very hard not to roll my eyes and say “duh” (especially since the name of my business is Handmade on Hartwell) but it is always an opportunity to explain to people what I love to do. And maybe get somebody to start sewing! Thanks again for an excellent post.
