Ruby Star Wrap-Along
A couple of years ago my friends Melody Miller and Allison Tannery told me about a little idea they had for a book. They wanted to compile dozens of ways to package and wrap gifts using recycled materials so the packaging would become as meaningful and creative as the gift itself. I absolutely loved the idea and was thrilled and honored when they asked me to write the foreword.

The book, Ruby Star Wrapping, arrived at my door a few weeks ago and is even better than I expected. It’s full of wonderful ways to wrap gifts of a variety of shapes and sizes using everything from fabric scraps to recycled boxes to painted bottles to old suitcases. All of them are charmingly embellished with simple materials you probably have in your craft and sewing stash. In addition, there are great ideas for creating your own ribbons, bows, roses and garlands to add pop to your gifts.
Sukie, being the exceptionally motivated, organized and creative wonder that she is, has put together an amazing wrap-along for Ruby Star Wrapping. Starting tomorrow, 11/7, a star-studded cast of talented sewists will show you their twist on one project from the book. You’re invited to participate for the chance to win some great prizes each week from now through the end of the tour on 12/19. Please see this post for all the details.
In addition, Melody will visit our blog on 11/23 with a unique free project and a chance to win the book.
Finally, on 12/10 we’ll announce the details of the Ruby Star Wrapping Contest. Take photos of all your creatively and conscientiously wrapped holiday gifts and get ready to submit them for a change to win gift certificates, books, fabric and more!
