New Shipping Rates for Domestic and International Packages
The United States Postal Service has announced new shipping rates, which go into effect Monday, January 27. Unfortunately, the price increases are quite steep, especially for international packages. Because orders placed over the weekend will ship on Monday, our new rates will go into effect this Friday. The new rates are below. See our Shipping Policies page for more information. We are pleased to be able to continue to offer a low flat rate within the US, no matter how large the order. The international rates represent the actual costs from the postal service and do not include any handling fees.

Oh dear, I knew prices were going up but didn’t realise that International tariffs would be so high. $24 is over £15 at current exchange rates and will pretty much stop me ordering anything on-line. Once there is enough fabric to justify the postage, there will be too much to bring in tax-free which means paying 20% VAT plus a handling charge*.
Never mind, I shall just have to come to the US soon!!
There are some people who seem to be able to get stuff through without paying – and I have never worked out how as I have even had to pay when it was only 50p over the limit!!

I’m a yarn dyer, and these rate increases really affect me. It’s really awful for international orders. The rate basically doubled. I am not a happy camper.
How can every level of US mail be $6???

As Ruth said nearly doubled up in prize. Gloria I often do not pay customs, it depends. Most of the time I am lucky and either the ordered value is not so high or customs just didn’t pick my package. Worst thing is, once you are over the value which comes free, they also count the postage when calculating the costums amount, at least in Germany.
It costs us more for each level, but we keep it at the same rate for the customer. We can do this in the US because the jumps are not as significant from an envelope to a medium box, and so on.
