I would definitely look up French seams! They are so beautiful, and seem so counter-intuitive. I definitely need illustrations and detailed explanations to get it.
Hems (mine always look atrocious), and zippers in pants (flys).
Zippers!
I’d go to making buttonholes first as I really struggle to make good buttonholes and this book would help me enormously
Ooh shirring !!! It scares the hell out of me.
darts!!! they confuse me
This looks like an awesome sewing book. I’d like to learn more about fitting adult clothing. Thank you for the chance to win!
I want to know more about pattern layouts so that would be the first section I would flip to.
ZIPPERS. I don’t know why they scare me so much. I read/watch all the tutorials and just can’t get it right.
I would love a copy of this book! I’d flip to the zippers first!
This would be perfect to give to my daughter who just got hired to help out in the Loyola Marymount University costume department.
Looks like it would be a great book for any sewing room!
I’d like to know more about altering patterns to fit me.
I’d first flip to the section in the book that covers zippers. I need a lot of help there!
Lining garments…I need some help! : )
I am such a beginner that I only know the very basics!! I would first flip to find help on sewing sleeves. Also, my two little girls are trying to learn to sew, so I know they would benefit from sections about the very basics.
Collars! I think I’d first flip to that. I’ve been trying to figure how to best add a collar to a pattern without one. Thanks for the giveaway!
Zippers!
Welt pockets!! That’s an area I need some help in!
I haven’t done a lot of garment sewing, so probably tips on that. And my sewing nemesis is zippers…
What a great book to have!! I would treasure this book greatly. I think the first thing I’d flip to was the section on hems. I have a hard time with them for some reason.
I would turn to altering darts and adjusting neckline.
MaryD
http://www.stitchesonmyneedle.blogspot.com
I used to make all of my clothes. Tish would be a great book to get back to sewing clothing.
Rolled edge hems! And how to make a hem on a circle-ish thing, like the bottom of an a-line skirt!
I’ve always wanted to know how to make welt pockets.
I would turn first to the section on zippers. I would love to be able to install zippers more professionally.
I don’t know, there’s so many to choose from!
Zippers! After some breaks from sewing I am starting back into this and have really struggled with zippers. I am sure this would be a wonderful and constant guide as I continue to do more sewing projects.
Being new to sewing clothing I would start from the beginning and work my way through the entire book. Thanks for the opportunity!
Zippers and button holes. Even though I have been sewing for over 30 years it seems like there are always better techniques.
Hard to decide which technique I would go to first-I need help! Set in sleeves, invisible zippers. I could go on and on.
I will flip open the Index pages first to feast my eyes with the list of everything , or anyone, could ever learn about sewing.
What I want to learn the most are the whole basic to professional techniques with the best quality from a pro, as it’s quite embarassing but I never really learn how to sew properly so my sewing skill is very bad and messy. That’s why upon reading your review about it, I really want to enter & wish could get it, because I really want to learn & practice all the sewing techniques properly.
I’d flip to zippers first, then appliques! This looks like a very handy book!
Pockets and zippers and linings! I want to make a lined skirt, with side invisible zipper, with a side pocket. I did it once, but it was messy.
Zippers! I know that it can’t be that hard, but I have yet to put them into a garment. I just go with buttons instead!
Zippers. I want someone to show me how. I know, everyone says it’s easier than they thought…
My grandma gave me a pretty thorough education, for which I’m very grateful! I think though, that I would still glean a lot from this book! I would probably turn to zippers first, and see if I could get some finishing techniques down a little better.
I always called my grandma when I had a puzzling sewing problem, now that she’s been in Heaven for 2+ years I have to look elsewhere for my sewing questions!
I loove sewing books! I’d probably look up working with lace. I have some ideas swirling around about lace necklines….
One can never have too many sewing reference books. I’d like to improve my zipper sewing skills.
How to sew in zippers
Holy guacamole!
I’d flip to facings. I am teaching a sewing class to teens and wonder if there are any tips to pass along to them. These girls have made skirts and pj pants but a bolero with a facing is something new for them.
I think Id check out invisible zippers first. Thanks for the chance.
What a nice book. I could sure used this one. I’m so afraid to sew garments because those patterns are not complete so I pick those “Easy” one and still i’m having trouble. I would quickly go through the underarms sewing techniques. I like the fact that it has pictures.
Smocking! Summer is around the corner and I plan on living in comfy dresses.
Zippers! Thanks for the chance!
I would flip to anything to do with hand stitching. I can sew all day on a machine, but my hand skills could use some improvement!
I think the seam finishing and tucks would be the first places I’d go. Haven’t done a lot of clothing lately, but I’ve been wanting to try again.
I would turn immediately to couching! I’ve seen quilts using this technique and they are AMAZING! Thanks for the giveaway
Oh, I want this book! I have been looking for a good sewing reference book. I think I would start with the basic – I want to know what needles to use for what fabric and learn how to use patterns.
I want to learn sewing in general! I love it but i dont know much about any of it! Thank you for this opportunoty!
Zippers! I can do zippers; I mean, I’m not afraid of them. I just suspect I could do them better.
I can’t think of one particular technique that I’d flip to first. I’d like to review all the techniques to find out if there are better and more efficient ways to make my garments look great. I’m especially excited that it includes techniques related to the latest sewing trends!
I haven’t bought a pattern since 8th grade Homemaking. I have now started sewing at 40, and love it. Yet, I still have not bought another pattern. I can’t think of any particular one thing, but that the book in itself would be a wealth of knowledge for me. When is the drawing?
I would flip to zippers first I think. I’m still fairly new and the thought of sewing zippers gives me hives. haha
Wow I was just getting ready to buy an older copy of this book! I flip to zippers first.
I’m not sure which technique I need to learn about most — I’d probably just read the whole thing through and be amazed at how much I didn’t know!

Darts! Thanks so much for the chance!
I would flip to the zipper section. I have done it, but it always makes me feel stressed!
I would love to make perfect hems!
I’d immediately go to all of the information about zippers. While I have done a few invisible zippers, I need my hand held each time!
My biggest fear with starting to sew is how to alter a pattern to get it to fit me well. So I’d turn to those techniques that I would use to help me to do that – like darts!
I would look at the index first so I could get a feel for all the wonderful categories. Thanks for the contest!
My bugaboo has always been in making pants that fit. I’ve about given up. Especially since I don’t know much about making alterations. I’ve been lucky to be able to pretty much wear a dress I make “as is”. So… alterations! Hopefully there’s something in there that covers that!
I would like to learn how to add collars and hoods to garments.
Thats a lovely giveaway
There are too many techniques that I would want to browse .. Pin tucks top the list

I’d love a copy of this book!
Ooo, just looking at these posted pages makes me want to learn more about making pockets!
The pleats in the 2nd picture, for a skirt I wanted to make before my vacation, and couldn’t! It’s supposed to be a box-pleated skirt, with contrasting fabric inside the box-pleats. I figured out how to do the contrasting box-pleats. But I just couldn’t wrap my head around how to do the upper, sewn down, sections of the pleats. I could use the help!
Blind hem. I have 2 pairs of pants I bought 2 years ago that I still haven’t worn. I need to shorten them and use a blind hem.
What a great giveaway! I think the first thing i will flip to first will be all about sleeves!!! It’s quite tricky and will be nice to see more reference on the techniques…
Great giveaway! I would love to win a copy!
DARTS! I’m afraid of darts because I need to resize them to fit my cup size. Past attempts have not gone well.
Insert an invisible zipper.
Zippers – specifically in backpacks and other odd shaped/long areas.
I would first flip to skirt making. I am a little scare of sewing garments but want to master a simple A-line skirt for myself and my daughter.

What a great looking reference. I would most likely read up on perfecting putting buttons on properly and making sure they are spaced correctly. I have a button down shirt and a shirt dress currently under construction and I am having a hard time with getting the buttons just right.
I’d love to know more about different types of hems! Being on the short side, my pants and long sleeved shirts are always too long and I’d love to fix them myself!
Zippers, zippers and more zippers
I would read about darts. I want to draft my own blouse patterns, but I’m not sure I understand the use of darts well enough to that yet.
This would be a great addition to my library. The first thing I would flip to would be how to properly use the blind hem foot to hem my husband’s dress pants.
Zippers!
What would I flip to first? Applique. Definitely applique. Slowly, steadily, I’ve been growing my quilting skills. Applique is my ultimate goal and what I’d love to know more about.

I am deathly afraid of zippers. Unfounded fear, but real all the same. Thanks for the chance!
Buttonholes! Where to start. Such a scary-seeming technique….
Oh what a fabulous give away! Does it have a section on lining garments? If so, that’s what I would flip to first. Or how to make bound button holes, or facings. Thanks for the chance.

I would flip to zips — to see a comparison of setting in lapped and invisible zippers.
I would flip to hems and necklines first for sure!
Please, oh please, I would love and cherish this book!!!
Hemming and french seams. I am terrible at hemming things evenly and my daughter has sensory issues with tags and seams. I keep messing up french seams or they only do them here and there. I need to know more and there are no classes around me… would love some “professional” help!
finishing, definitely my weakest area.
Side-seam zippers. Ugh, the last one I installed was not good.

I’d stop first at either welt pockets or zippers (true fly zip style).
Inserting a zipper – i have had 3 zips recently that have not gone well so i need to take a step back and look at what i am doing. Following this guide would get me there.

Zippers. For real.
I would flip right to Shirring – I am terrified of this technique!
Thx for the chance to win
Looks like a great addition to anyone’s sewing library. I would be curious to see what information that they have about buttonholes. hems! I bought a sewing machine was because I was purging my closet before Christmas and I had 10 pairs of pants that either I had never worn because they were too long, or I had tacked up so I could wear them but never actually hemmed…they look terrible. It would cost more to pay to have all of those pants hemmed than to buy a sewing machine. I’m too scared to ruin any of these pants so I still have 10 pairs of unhemmed pants. (and a million little crafty items that I’m using to work on my skills confidence.
Pattern alteration or fitting, 40DDD, help!

Interfacing and it’s proper uses. I always struggle selecting the right interfacing. My iron in puckers, the sew in buckles… HELP ME!
I need a good resource to turn to when adjusting a pattern for my measurements…it can get so frustrating when you’re trying to do it the hard way, have to stop and flip thru five books and search a dozen web sites, just to figure out how to put a dart or a tuck in the right spot!

Looks like a great and useful book! I would love to learn more about zippers. and how to sew garments, a dress especially.
Yup, I’d flip to the first page….Long story short, i’ve begun sewing as a way to reconnect with my mother. She’s been sewing for well over 37 years and we’ve been not so friendly for 7. I’m so fond of sewing because it really has become a wonderful activity for us in buiding a new relationship and we’re creating beautiful items in the process. So I’m all in…wanting to learn anything and everything I can. So yes..i’d jump to Page 1. lol
I would flip to Slotted Seams! I would love to see the variations and uses that are presented! Thanks.
