October 1 Scrap Buster ~ Patchwork Scarves

Join us! Every day this month we’ll highlight a favorite scrap buster project. If you’ve made a similar project, add a link in the comments so we can all click over and take a look. You could also link to your favorite related tutorial… Help us create a great scrap buster resource every day this month!

Patchwork Scarf by Leslie, one girl designwrks

Leslie writes, “I used a lovely organic hemp/cotton fleece on the backs of the scarves so they are super soft on little necks and the fringe on the ends is actually just the selvedge of a heavy cotton/linen fabric but could be created with bits of yarn as well.” We love the little added loop!

Don’t forget to add your pic links or related tutorials to the comments. Here’s our Patchwork Scarf Tutorial (that scarf still sees a lot of cool weather action around here!).

That scarf is so pretty! My girls would love a scarf like this. I’ll be doing some serious crafting (my “busy season” begins) this month so I’ll have to see what I can come up with! I started a flickr group today for Handmade Celebrations – any all all handmade gifts and celebration decorations that you make! I’m sure most of us visiting this blog will be making handmade for this holiday season. Post your photos and show them off if you like! Info on my blog if you’d like to participate.

I made a scarf and it is shown on my blog at http://southernseven.blogspot.com/2009/09/fall-patchwork-scarf.html I used an orange shirt I had for some of the fabric along with scraps. I am working on two more that I am making from a pillow sham that has a quilted patchwork shabby chic pattern and a knobby white baby throw.
