Love this idea! Going to check out the tutorial. Thanks.
This is perfect, I was just looking for a fun bias tape online and now I realize I can make my own and really add some personality to my work! Thanks!
what a great idea! who couldn’t use some extra cute scrappy string! I might just start wrapping gifts if I had cute stuff like that to use
I just have to be a stickler here, while that patchwork binding is gorgeous, and one of my own favorite scrap busting ideas you’ve posted this month – it is NOT bias tape. Bias tape is cut “on the bias” (on the diagonal) and it’s pretty near impossible to make from scraps. <3
Wow. And they’re handsewn? I think I’ll try some as package ties for holiday gifts.
I love this!
this is such a great idea, i love it!
Love this! Can’t wait to make and use some!
Love this tutorial. Definitely going into my sewing queue.
This is an awesome way to use up all the scraps I have! I love it!
This is a great way to use up all my scrap! Thank you so much!
This is so great – I can’t wait to test it out!
I wonder if I have the patience to make something that cute!!!
I absolutely LOVED Mairuru’s work on her blog.
I am now working on pillows for our sofa and some bags and pouches.
Love your site too!
Cheers from Toronto
Love this idea. Thanks for sharing it! =]
Isn’t her work wonderful? I’m constantly amazed that she can make so much by hand sewing.
I think that this is the best one yet! What a great idea. I’m very inspired.
I love this. I just can’t throw out those bits and pieces. Great use of otherwise useless scraps!
this would be cute to make a wider piece and use around the edge of a quilt or baby blanket.
How simple, and how beautiful! I am REALLY going to use this tute. Thank you!
Great tutorial! I’m going to do this with Christmas fabric to make ribbons for wrapping.
beautiful handmade ribbon. especially cute with plain linen as she did on her blog. love her fabrics!
Really cute idea – love the mix of fabrics.
Thanks for the tutorial! I’ve been wondering how to make something like this
This is a great idea.
Great idea!
lovely bias tape! i can think of many ways i will be using this.
What a pretty piece of string!
I love mai’s tutorials!
this is such a cool idea and so simple in its execution.
Very clever- thank you!
This is such a great idea. I can’t stand to through any scrap away. I have started some Crazy quilting squares to use up my scraps and to have a portable quilting project.
How cute. I love the patchwork look and you can use it for all sorts of things. Thanks for the tute.
Lovely idea for scraps!
ooooh, this would be so cute as hairbows for my little girls. Besides, they’re always looking for ribbons and string for their OWN craft projects… Guess I’m going to have to go make some scrappy ones…..
This is awesome! Bias tape for something other than quilting! I think I will make my boys some pj bottoms with the patchwork string! Thank you for stirring up the imagination!
That is perfect for all the really little scraps I can never get rid of… though I don’t think I’m going to do it by hand!
great idea!
How beautiful and what a great idea !
Wow — a new blog to explore! Thanks for sharing this tutorial. I keep every.little.bit because I heart fabric and can’t bear to throw any of it away. So some of the little bits can join forces and become strings! and bias tape! Fun fun fun!
Mai is amazing! I love her blog and stories! This weekend I made some drawstrings from her instructions. Easy!
Sweet patchwork string.
Wow is right! I just bookmarked a bunch of Mai’s other tutorials too. I think I’ll have to do this one first, though. Thanks so much for all the great links!
This looks so cute all sewn together! You could use if for so many things, too!
Oh my goodness! I love those! So many possibilities just popped into my head for those!
Jenny
This is a lovely way to wrap a gift. I must try this idea.
That’s so cool! I’m going to make some tonight
So much prettier withe hand running-stitch! I made some ties for an envelope pillow back using the same folding method, but with a machine stitched line. You can see it here: http://poppyprintcreates.blogspot.com/2009/09/la-tour-eiffel.html
It just decorates the pillow back a little bit and makes it pretty like the front, too!
I need to make this project!
I love this idea! What a great binding for a scrappy quilt.
I have been wanting to do this for quilt binding for a while. Thanks for sharing.
I love this project, pretty to wrap packages. Thanks!
