| Everyone can use a good apron. Even if you already have several, a new one is always special. Matching aprons for couples? Aprons to help your favorite crafter or Laundry King/Queen with their “work?” Little aprons for the youngest cooks in the family? Add a cookbook, kitchen or craft tools, some homemade jam, or special seasonings and you have a lovely, thoughtful gift. This is such a great idea and I love all the great photos! We made all of our gifts for Christmas last year and had so much fun doing it we plan to do it again this year, and I can’t wait to see all the great projects you have listed!

I’ve been making aprons as presents and to sell for a long time now. I’ve never done a reversable one though – I think I’m going to have to give that tutorial a try! Great first day of the Handmade Holidays theme!
I love the craft apron! I am just learning to sew and it really appeals to me – I might add a closeable pocket or 2 to it.

Aprons sure make great gifts! I actually am working on one today for my sister for her birthday and then one for my mom’s birthday too. We have a “family” pattern that was my late grandma’s that we all love (I’m not sure where she got it, but it’s really special to me because it’s traced off onto brown paper and has her handwriting on it). It’s super easy to make and only takes 1.25 yds of fabric.
I’ve got to hit the linen closet and make that kitchen towel apron for my little guy. Too sweet!
Ooooh, I LOVE the aprons! I’m so excited to get out my fabric stash (to see what I need) and get sewing! I already know of 5 people that will be getting aprons for Christmas this year…
This is what I did for everyone last year! And I have found it is perfect to do his & hers for wedding gifts as well. This year I’m making grocery bags.
I am making one for a friend out of that exact brown fruit fabric!

I love the idea of coupled aprons-this is a very nice gift…
I am totally encouraged! I am trying to discipline myself to wear an apron when I am cooking and cleaning to save my clothes, but am not doing a good job. So I have some aprons I am dying to make, and will have a trusty assistant in just 6 weeks for 6weeks to get lots done!
I will be adding a couple of these to the list!

That craft apron is sweet! Like having a Batman utility belt for crafting. I don’t have any aprons at all, maybe I should make one for myself. Not exactly in the spirit of giving, but hey, a girl’s gotta give gifts to herself, right?

I’m dying here, I tell you! I just took my machine in to get some routine maintenance done, and they told me it would be about 10-12 days. ACK! And all these cute projects coming up too! Oh, I should have waited, but I had this nifty coupon that got me $25 off (basically 1/2 off the service I am having done). So…any hand sewing? I think I’ll make the shrinky dink pins in Nov. 2nd’s post! That’s a good non-sewing project! I’m loving all these projects, even if I rendered myself incapable of sewing for the next two weeks!!!

My very first sewing project (way back five whole months ago, LOL!) was an apron. I can’t recommend Lotta Jansdotter’s pattern from her book enough – very empowering for a newbie sewer like myself.
The kids’ aprons got me thinking – I would’t have initially thought it would be a good gift for my 9-and-12-year-old nephews, but actually I might be able to turn it into a nice “bonding in the kitchen” kind of gift for them and my sister. Particularly if I use novelty fabric and buy them a cookbook with some kind of gross-out factor

When I look at these fabulous fabrics and tutorials I feel really, really bad – I do not have an apron yet! The only funny apron I had was oil cloth tagged “Dinner was small, but I’ll be nice in the night”. Now I have to try something new. Great idea of a guide for sewers – new and experienced. (I placed a banner of this wonderful idea at my blog, of course)

I have a great apron made for my mother in law
Along with matching cotton towels and dinner napkins. It’s a half apron, ties at the waist with little pockets made of red and apple fabric.
