Introduction ~ Gina Halladay of QuiltersBuzz & Threaded Pear Studio
![]() |
Gina Halladay is busy! The first quilt she made with her sister years ago initiated a love of quilting and a life full of that love. Gina’s first quilt, incidentally, wasn’t a personal success. She didn’t like the colors once it was pieced together and she wasn’t happy with the quality of the fabrics. Gina was, however, enamored with the process of quilting and started on a happy journey from sewing quilts she loved to working in a fabric shop, teaching quilting classes and starting QuiltersBuzz, the popular online forum for all things related to quilting. |
Gina with Stephanie and one of their original quilt designs.
Gina’s journalism background (she has a degree in communications and journalism) and her fascination for discovery have been instrumental in the success of QuiltersBuzz. The blog’s format has the feel of an online magazine column, an approach that shares information, discussion and news about quilting with immediate impact and provides an important sense of community for quilters.
In addition to QuiltersBuzz Gina keeps busy with Threaded Pear Studio, a quilt pattern design company she runs with her friend and business partner Stephanie Goudzwaard. Their quilting pattern design series “Afternoon Delights, Quilts You Can Make In An Afternoon Or Two” includes over twenty popular options. Gina and Stephanie started a longarm quilting business as a complement to the development of Threaded Pear Studio, and Gina is now a dealer for the Gammill quilting machines.
With a hand in so many aspects of the industry and a true love of quilting it’s only natural Gina dreams of quilt patterns day and night, and hopes to design fabric with Stephanie in the near future. Her husband and four children wholeheartedly support all of Gina’s dreams! Gina will continue to teach, foster community, inspire, inform and share a joy of quilting her busy days to come. Join the fun with a visit to Threaded Pear Studio and QuiltersBuzz. Look for Gina’s upcoming article about quilting on the Sew,Mama,Sew! blog!
