- Amy writes, “My daughter has poor eyesight and we’ve been having to ‘patch’ her good eye for two hours a day to exercise her weaker one. She had registered at Target for receiving blankets. So I bought those and used one of the blankets to make a simple quilt for her, then gave her the other two blankets in her gift. I thought it was a great way to choose fabric I know that she’d love while still being able to make a handmade gift… I posted it on my blog… I’ve made two quilts since that I posted about as well. I’ve had a lot of fun doing these for friends.” Beautiful!

Re: Michelle’s idea for using receiving blankets for a quilt. What a great idea! I did this for my son’s bed quilt. It’s nice to be able to purchase the fitted sheets (he’s still using a toddler bed, too) and coordinating accents, but still have a beautiful handmade quilt. I love that sweet little baby hat, I wonder if instead of covering the seams with binding I could make the hat lined. That way it would be reversible too!
