Grocery Bag Sew-Off Winners

Congratulations to our Grocery Bag Sew-Off Winners! Quilting for Peace Team Sew,Mama,Sew! created well over 250 bags. You might remember Morsbags estimates that every cloth bag saves the ecosystem from approximately 80 plastic bags; team members really saved the environment from the use of over 20,000 plastic bags. WOW!

We extended our initial deadline but everyone who shared pictures in this forum thread by December 22nd had their chance to win doubled, just to make it all fair & square. Congratulations to our 15 randomly-selected winners who will each receive one of these fantastic prizes from Fiskars! (Winners are noted with their forum user names.)

Way to go!: Raven, Andi, tyexhelena, frog_lily, jexxican, limabeanhome, mstramel, sazziej, Lala, daintyphatman, sewingnancyl, valmiller, jmommy08, bethvanduzer, bookjunky

If you won and have your email address noted in your forum profile we’ll be in contact Thursday with details. If not, email beth@sewmamasew.com!

Don’t forget: There’s still time to participate in our Quilting for Peace Team Sew,Mama,Sew! Wrap Them in Love project through January.

Bravo! I congratulate all the winners and Sew Mama Sew team for organising this contest. People like you will help make a better n eco-friendly world. Thanks for spreading the message. My motto is
“Retour VERT le futur”(French name for movie Back to future but one word is changed that makes it green :-) )-”All for a green future”.

Congratulations to all the winners! I admit, I was coveting a new pair of Fiskars scissors (and would have welcomed any of the other neat-o prizes) but, truly, it was reward enough seeing the happy reactions from the recipients of my 10 bags. I’ve got more cut out and ready to sew today, and expect to continue the giving. Thanks, and best wishes for the New Year.

Wow great job everyone! I’m sad I didn’t get to participate, but I definitely will be making grocery bags for myself, friends and family to encourage their use. I already refuse plastic bags when I’m only buying a few things, but always forget my reusable bags so I’m always struggling to find my keys with groceries in my arms. One day that’s going to backfire.

oooh, when going through the linen closet yesterday I found a fitted sheet that the elastic had all failed in and I thought how it was still good fabric and could make some simple reuseable bags. Thanks for the reminder.

I won! Thank you so much! You gave me a great Christmas gift idea for my mother – and she LOVED them. I had the fabric sitting around, so it was a free Christmas gift and then I won – life is good! Congrats to everyone else who won and even more congrats to everyone who participated! That is amazing how many bags were made and plastic bags were saved!
