Free Fabric Friday
It’s been a busy week! We received cartons and cartons of beautiful fabric, as well as some splendid new patterns. Before we get to the giveaways, a few things:
Sewing Circles
Did you see our post about starting your own real-life sewing group? Lots of people have logged onto the Forum and are looking for sewing buddies in their neighborhoods, so please check out the growing list of locations. The what/where/when is totally up to you and your sewing circle.
If you’re specifically into quilting, several people have called our attention to The Modern Quilt Guilds starting up around the country. You can join an existing guild, or start one of your own!
Guest Designer Fat Quarter Pack ~ Amanda Soule
A big thanks to Amanda for putting together such a beautiful pack. We should have known they’ sell out in a flash! The winner of the Amanda Soule pack is Michelle D. Congratulations–we’ll be in touch.
“True Love”
Don’t forget about our Valentine contest! There are lots of great prizes. Also, make sure you’ve subscribed to our feed for February. We have daily ideas that are either Valentine or wedding related, but can be applied to any special day.
We are so excited about these new Colette patterns! Aren’t the photos just gorgeous?! We can’t wait to make the Sencha blouse. Two new dresses, the blouse and an awesome coat.
It’s been a long time since we’ve seen a really great western group, but this one definitely fits the bill. Cute cowboys and cowgirls, classic paisleys, rodeo roses and perfect ditzies–yeehaw!
Woodland Delight by Paula Prass
This new collection is full of amazing prints in fresh colors. Woodcut Garden is a favorite around here, and the Pebble Stones should be a stash essential.
Flora and Fauna by Patty Young
“Hive” has to be one of our favorite prints this season, and the group is full of several wonderful, unique designs. Of course they’d all look great made up into one of Patty’s Modkid sewing patterns.
Michael Miller just released a bunch of super cool novelty prints that would be great in kids’ rooms. They all coordinate with one or more fabulous dots, so be sure to check out our “related products” if you’re looking for a “goes-with.”
We’ve been anxiously awaiting the release of Timber since Jessica Levitt first gave us a peek on her blog. The colorways are splendid and the art nouveau designs are classic and sophisticated.
Alexander Henry 2D Zoo

Alexander Henry’s enormously popular, 2D Zoo, is now available in three new color combinations–Chocolate, Holly and Nude.
We now have charm packs for Leanika, Hope Valley and Dolce. These versatile little packages contain approximately 25 five-inch squares of fabric from the collection.
Free Fabric
This week we’re going to give away 9 prizes! One Colette pattern, one charm pack and one yard to 7 people. For your chance to win, you can do one of three things:
- Comment in this blog post and tell us which prize you’d most like to win and what you’d make.
- Comment on Facebook and tell us who you think should be our next Guest Fat Quarter Pack Designer.
- Comment anywhere in the Forum, including any of the Sewing Circle posts.
Of course you can comment all three places to increase your chances. Have a great weekend!
IF YOU CAN’T SEE THE COMMENT BOX, THIS IS DUE TO A FIREFOX BUG. FORTUNATELY, IT HAS BEEN FIXED WITH A NEW RELEASE! PLEASE UPDATE YOUR VERSION OF FIREFOX.

Oh, I would love to win a yard of fabric to make a fabulous tote bag!

I would love to get a yard of fabric! I have been watching your blog for a little over a year, drooling over the fabrics and tutorials that you have been posting. I have been putting off purchasing any due to the sleep deprivation a new baby brings. I so want to make some cute baby clothes out of some of the adorable animal prints, or even get something to make a bag or top for me!
I would love some of the Michael Miller. I’ve been wanting to make an “I Spy” quilt for my daughter, but it takes a while to find the perfect fabric with great little pictures in it!
I think some of Timber fabric would be delicious to use on the back of the quilt I am making for my son…nice large print…thanks for a chance.

If I were a winner, I would want the Ceylon Shirt Dress pattern, but there are several new prints that I would make it from.
Oh my! so many choices!
While scrolling through the fabrics, the Rawhide collection from Moda caught my eye. I like the pink colorways and would make a new bag for spring.
Great giveways. You gals are so generous.
Thanks!
I would love to make dresses for my girls out of any of the Patty Young fabrics.
I’d dream up a project using the charm squares, something my mother and I could work on together. She recently moved to a nursing home, and when I visit I try to bring some small project that gives her an opportunity to feel productive and make decisions. She’s never been a crafty person like me, but she really cherishes our weekends together, spent noodling over ribbon roses or felt hearts. A variety of colorful fabric squares would give her mind and fingers a new place to roam.
I would love to have the Timber prints. A friend of mine will be having a baby this spring and I’d love to be able to make a quilt for both of them that’s still lovely and sophisticated.
I am totally in love with the Sencha Blouse from the Colette Patterns. So many varieties and just the right style. Made in the Huevos Citron fabric by Michael Miller and then my day would be perfect. So so lovely…
I love Timber, by Jessica Levitt… I think I would try to quilt something, with some nice pattern…
Oh! The 2D Zoo would make a super cute baby quilt; the one that you featured a while back that uses charm squares
All the fabric is fantastic! I just learned to sew, so I’ve got the fabric bug!! I think my favorite has to be the Misc. Michael Miller. I’d use the mushroom print to make some cute pants for my baby!

I would love to win those giraffes on the yellow background (Michael Miller). I’d add it to the quilt I’m making for my son and to a baby quilt I’m planning for my friend’s baby!
Gosh….so hard to choose! I think I’m particularly drawn to the Rawhide collection – maybe the red and white floral. I think I’d make a much-needed coupon organizer with it!
I love all of those collections! I’d choose “Woodland Delight” and make some a modern baby quilt for a friend.
i’m drooling over the the flora & fauna by patty young. i’d use it to start a quilt for my daughter’s bed – i need some good inspiration! sus
Timber collection for sure! I’ll make the simple door stopper that I haven’t gotten around to make so when I have the windows open (here in Florida) I don’t scare myself when it slams all the time!
i love the michael miller novelty prints. i’d make a kiddie art smock for my daughter.
I’d love to win any of them, but I like Timber by Jessica Levitt a lot!! I need to make some tote bags for upcoming presents!
I love the fabric and patterns. I have browsed through your website and really enjoyed the eye candy.
Wow, I’d love any of these, but I’d have to pick the Dolce charm pack.
I’m just crazy for the hope valley – I would make a quick and easy baby blanket with all of the charm pieces!
I really like Timber. I’m thinking a few pillows for the living room. A charm pack would be great too. Thanks for the chance!
Wow all of the prizes are awesome. But I like the charm packs and the Michael Miller fabric the best. I will find something to make with that fabric. I just saw a cute pattern for a purse that is quilted that might be my first project. Thanks so much Cynthia
Flora and Fauna would be my first choice and the charm packs would be second. I would make a quilt. Thanks for the chance to win!
I would love to win the Michael Miller! I think it would be perfect for a quilt for my daughter, and perhaps a skirt.
I would likely choose one of the Michael Miller prints or one of the 2D zoo prints to make matching pajamas for my kids!
Oh I would love any of the charm packs. I’m new to sewing and would love to create a quilted patchwork bag.
Woodland delight keeps attracting my eye. I love, love, love the large modern flora print. It would make a charming beach hat.
First of all, congrats Amanda! That’s a true blessing.
I am in love with Timber by Jessica Levitt!!! It would be adorable for my 4 year old’s couture outfits or for some decorating around the house! Keep up the good work!
Thanks for this opportunity to win a giveaway. We are blessed!
Which prize would I like to win the most ….. decisions, decisions!!!

The new Colette patterns are gorgeous!
oohhhh…The colette patterns are lovely! but the fabric choices are divine too!
I would love to get my hands on that Hope Valley Charm pack. I’ve had my eye on it for awhile. I love the Timber Collection by Jessica Levitt and the new Paula Prass. So much gorgeous up and coming fabrics.
I would like ANY of the items – pattern would be something for ME! Charm packs would go into my quilt (still in the design and color choice stages – this could up it a notch). I especially like the 2D zoo fabric for something for the boys – some cools pjs.
Love to win a charm pack to inspire me to make quilts for my kids.
I am in LOVE with the Timber Collection by Jessica Levitt! Dresses! I’d make dress after dress after dress for my daughter.

Ohh I would love to win the charm pack. It would be perfect for making bag tags!
Oh I would love to get the charm pack. I have just recently started sewing quilts and love precut fabrics. I wouldn’t pass up a yard of on fabric either though lol.
Love love love the Rooibos dress. And also the coat. Though I really need a cold weather coat, not an in-between coat. So we’ll go with the dress. It is awesome!
I would be more than happy to win any prize, though a charm pack would be awesome. I am super new to sewing and I actually just decided yesterday that I want to try my first quilt so I’ve been looking everywhere at charm packs.
I’d love to win the Hope Valley charm pack most
I have been dying to try the colette patterns and would love to make myself a dress!
I would love to win a yard from Michael Mille. They all look so good!
Wow, so many cool things it’s hard to pick which one I’d want. I think the Dolce charm pack would make a great spring quilt–maybe simple four patches with pale sashing.
I’d love to start a quilt inspired by the Leanika charm pack!
I love the cowgirl prints from rawhide. My daughter will love them even more I do. I would either make her a cute purse, backpack, or blouse. Oh the creative juices are flowing.
The Leanika charm pack is so yummy! It would make a beautiful baby girl quilt, I think.
I am assembling a group of fabrics for a child’s quilt and think Alexander Henry’s 2D Zoo would be a great addition!
I think I’d lik the rawhide group of fabrics to sew something for my three duaghters (4,2,4m). My mother is from Texas, and is frequently reminding us of her roots…it would be a fun surprise to show off new western dresses at our summer family gathering!
colette pattern, woot woot! i am positively obsessed with those patterns. and while i am at it, i think that sarai of colette patterns should be the next fat quarter pack designer!
Oh, I’d love the flora and fauna fabric. I’m not even sure what I’d make of it, but I’m sure I’d think of something!
What a cool giveaway! I love the Woodland Delight collection by Paula Prass! Think it would make a great addition to my Itty Bitty Bag line =)
All the best,
Jen St Jean
The Itty Bitty Bag Company
A yard would be great. I just picked up One Yard Wonders so, I can’t narrow it down to what I would make – there are so many great choices!
I’d love one of those Colette patterns! I have the first wedding of a childhood friend to attend in June, and I promised myself I would make my own dress…one of those would be perfect!
I would most like to win the Alexander Henry Zoo fabric in nude, and I would make a baby outfit for my daughter who is due in mid-april.
I like Timber! Very pretty. I might make cushions for the new couch in the kids’ playroom.
Thanks!
I’d love to win the charm packs. I’d make a receiving blanket for my new nephew.
I love the charm packs! I think I’d use it towards a baby quilt I anticipate making, if you know what I mean… : ) Or maybe some throw pillows–my couch badly needs a makeover!
I would love to win the charm pack. My friend and I just started a sewing circle, and we thought the perfect first project we worked on would be a quilt that we could donate to someone in need. The charm pack would be the perfect starter to help us choose wonderful colors to make a beautiful quilt. Thanks!
The Timber collection is wonderful! Table square? Apron? Tote bag? Cutch bag? So many possibilities!!
I love the timber collection. It has some of my favorite colors! I would love to make a skirt for my little girl with it!
I love the Timber fabrics – would be perfect for new pillows in my living room!
Oh! I think I’d most like to win a charm pack! I do a lot of quilting and pathwork, so charm packs are always a great thing in my house!
oh, gosh! I can’t decide which I’d most like to win! So many good ones. I think I like Timber the best. And that would have to be something for me. A bag, maybe? hmmm…
I have had my eye on the “Farmer’s Market Bag” from Sew Liberated…with the January thaw I am thinking of Spring and the return of our Farmer’s market…so I would love to win a yard of fabric to make the bag!
I’d probably take a Dolce charm pack to make a bag! Thanks for the chance!
A pattern would be most exciting:)

Those Colette patterns have me drooling!
Love the Flora And fauna!
Oooh, I’d love to win a yard of Hope Valley to use as the back of my Hope Valley quilt!
I’ve heard so much about Woodland Delight – I’ve love to win that by Paula Prass, and I’d make a quilt.
Dogwood Blue-Green from Timber! I’d make something cute and summery for myself.
I would adore the Flora and Fauna by Patty Young . They are so fresh and cheery, it sure helps looking at pretty things when you have cabin fever!
I would love it all! But I am particularly drawn to the fabrics, especially the charm packs–I would make quilts, big and little with any of the lovely prints!
oooo! fabric! i think if i won i would just have to stare at it for a while before i ever touched it!! but then that’s a crime, so it would be transformed into something! so wonderful!
I am BRAND NEW to sewing, and looking at the Michael Miller prints look like the most fun to make a simple, Soule Mama-inspired rolly quilt for my 6 month old! We call it a Rolly blanket, because that is what our baby does all the time – roll all over our hardwood floors! The big brother and sisters have the most fun with her, and it’s a hoot watching them move our blankets around to keep her from hitting the wood floor!
I’d most like to win a charm pack. They can be used for so many things. I would probably make part of a quilt top with them or a table runner. Thanks for a great giveaway.
I’d love a charm pack to aid in a lap quilt I’ve been hoping to start soon!
Please count me in for free fabric friday
I love the new Michael Miller, Paula Prass, and Patty Young fabrics.
I am brand new at sewing so I’m not sure what I need! But probably some of that cowboy fabric to make some jammies for a kiddo.
The Colette patterns are wonderful. That dress is really nice, I love the 50’s look.
I would love to win one yard of the Michael Miller fabrics, and I think I would make a book bag and a little purse.
The woodland delight zig-zags! (If I must choose only one!) I would make a bag or an owl out of it.
I’d love the Hope Valley Charm Pack. I’m planning a quilt and these fabrics would work perfectly with what I already have going.
Oh I love the new 2D Zoo colorways!
Hi, I would love to win a yard of fabric and if I get to chose the design it would be from The Timber collection.
They are such great colors.
Thanks
This is the time of year when SO many wonderful fabric collections come out! I adore Patty Young’s Flora and Fauna collection. I really need to look into the sewing forum more cuz I couldn’t find any fellow sewers in the Madison area. Such a great way to connect people!
I would love some of Patty Young’s new fabric. I love the bright colors and the bees.
I love the flora and fauna by Patty Young! Love the colors!!
But heck it is all beautiful!!
I would love to win a charm pack and add it in with fabric to make a child-sized stacked coin quilt. Gorgeous colors!
Misc Michael Miller…I could see myself making something and putting in a frame for my wall in our guest room. It would really set off the room!
I love the flora and fauna fabrics…especially the hive pattern!
I think any of the prizes would be great! If I had to pick one…I think the yard of fabric. There are some great new ones I’d love to try out!
I can’t help it! I know it’s probably the most popular, but Alexander Henry’s Zoo print just makes me smile… and think of my wee animal lover.
Her spring wardrobe of sweet sundresses and applique jumpers is coming to fruition in my head. A bit of fun zoo fabric would be perfect for giving just the right ‘zing’ to borders and appliques! …And it would turn a simple dress into a cherished item for my vibrant 2.5 year old!
I’d love to win a charm pack! And I look forward to the valentine tutorials!
SMS has become the very first site that I visit with my morning coffee – thank you for all the work you guys put into it !
I bought a yard of the Hive print because it caught my eye, and when I brought the fabric home my husband went nuts over it. His family are apiarists (bee farmers) and he asked me to make a quilt for our house entirely out of the many Hive prints. It will be a hexagonal pattern to echo honeycomb. I haven’t purchased the remaining fabric yet, so a little Hive print would get me started on my way to a finished quilt top!
I would make something from the 2D zoo collection for my newest niece, Lainey, who will arrive this summer!
oh yeah … I’d make one awesome bag using a charm pack !
I love all of the designs mostly Timber, I would love to make a patchwork bag from them.
I would love some Flora & Fauna! The patterns that Sew4Home has been showing with this line have been great. I’d probably make napkins!
Flora and Fauna for the win! I’ve been wondering where the awesome bumblebee fabric I’ve seen quilt bloggers using was from and now I know! If I had some of that fabric I would learn to sew hexagonals and make a honeycomb quilt!
I would most like to win Flora and Fauna by Patty Young, most specifically the hummingbird fabric. Lately, the turquoise and red combination has been appealing to mean and when you add in the fact that the hummingbirds hold a bittersweet family memory, it is the perfect combination.
I love love the new Michael Miller prints — They would probably end up in baby bibs, toys, or quilts!
I would like to win the yard of fabric. My best friend’s house burned down. I would like to make the simple party clutch for her. She is going to her sons 8th grade cotillian and this would be great for her to carry. Thank you for your generosity to all.
Heather Kordsmeier
I have been anxious for Timber to come out and love the trees so that would be my choice. I am collecting nature inspired fabric for a wall-hanging I have sketched out and this would be a wonderful addition.
I love the flora and fauna. Would have to use some of the hive fabric to top some sort of honey craft — honey body scrub, perhaps? And the others for cheerful kitchen things, placemats and napkins…

Oh, I have been dying to make a Colette dress for myself. That would be the prize I would most like to win!
I’d love the Timber fabric. I can see lots of lovely pillows (still a beginner here!) in my future.
I love the Flora and Fauna. It would be perfect for a cute sundress for my daughter and/or matching skirt for mommy. I think this would be great so that we can get family pics taken for her 2nd birthday!:) I know, sometimes matching each other is cheesy, but this would be super cute!
Thank you for the chance to win. I would love a charm pack, but any of the prizes would be wonderful.
Wow! I was not familiar with Colette patterns until now, but they’re absolutely lovely! Love the styling–and would love to have one!
I would love to win a yard of 2D Zoo in Holly. I would make my son and daughter matching tote bags for our zoo trips this summer:)
Definitely the Hope Valley Charm pack. I am loving the quilts and just about everything else I am seeing made in this fabric! Yeah!
I would love to join one sewing circle, here in Portugal, but I’m afraid we haven’t any, at least I don’t know any.

But, the Flora and Fauna has been #1 on my list of fabric I want. I thought it would make a cute baby quilt. Since it was #1 for me, I had to mention it. No specific plans, though, so I had to put it 2nd.

My husband and I are anxiously awaiting the arrival of our first child in July. After a failed medical attempt at pregnancy in 2008 and a miscarriage in 2009, we realize that making it to 18 weeks is a gift from God.
I have never written in to your blog, but I am a faithful follower and love the things you create.
Although I’m sure my ideas are completely original, I’m going to step out into a new world and post them. I would use the Timber collection to make a diaper bag, matching burp rag, and a pacifier clip (I just found an online tutorial for the clip yesterday).
The 2-D Zoo Chocolate line would match perfectly the setup that we already have in the bedroom we are going to convert into the nursery. I never thought I’d run across a fabric that would match my husband’s horrendously green-colored chair in that room. I think this fabric would make a good bumper pad or start for a nursery quilt.
Keep the great ideas rolling!!

I would really love to win Ceylon Shirt Dress from the Colette Patterns. I have been trying slowly filling my closet with clothes I made since I started sewing regularly a few months back. I really love the Michael Miller pack! I would make the buttercup bag!
I love the Patty Young collection! I would totally use those fabrics in my mixed media pieces!
I love the charm packs.
Such great fabrics! I’d be tempted to buy one of those Timber fabrics for my own quilt, but I have a lot of fabrics for it already, so I’d probably buy one of those 2D Zoo fabrics for my mom (she’s working on quilts for Project Linus or something similar, and cute boy and gender-neutral fabrics are hard to find!).
I would absolutely flip for anything from Rawhide.
Wow! It’s a tough choice which prize I’d most like to win, since some of the new fabrics are so lovely, but I think I’ve got to go with a Collette pattern – love them all! But I agree: the Sencha blouse is the most MUST MAKE NOW of them all!

The fabrics out today have to be my favorite groupings ever. I would love to win the charm packs so that I could incorporate them into a quilt for the Linus Project, QOV or similar. BTW, I can’t figure out how there are nine prizes given away to 7 people. Are my math skills waning?

I would love a Colette pattern–I have been admiring these! (I guess easy to say what I’d make–the pattern!)

I’m very drawn to Misc. Michael Miller or Alexander Henry. I think it’s because I’m 37 weeks pregnant for a baby girl and there’s a ton of baby stuff I’d like to make. I’m thinking a few softies or simple soft baby blocks or storage buckets.
I would love the Alexander Henry and I would use it in a quilt for my baby girl.

Pepie
I like the Rawhide line from Moda. My sister-in-law is totally into that kind of thing so an apron or bag for her would be perfect.
I would say Rawhide from Moda, because I am trying to make a quilt for each family member and my oldest sister loves the southwest/westerns. I dont have anything for that! That collection is great! I will say Paula Prass and Patty Young are up there too, but I just don’t have a project for those yet!

I keep thinking that if I could settle in on just one design, then that would be the capstone for decorating my new baby daughter’s nursery, and make a quilt for her with it. She’s due in May, so maybe I’ll have enough time to pick one I like more than the others!
