November 26 ~ Gifts for Science & Tech Lovers

How will the science and tech lovers on your list get the binary scarf, dodecahedral bag or molecular embroidery they need unless you create it for them this holiday season?!

Make It

spacer Molecular Embroidery
Bean from Coyote Craft (and her sister!) created some PDF Molecular Embroidery Patterns for you with their two favorite molecules: caffeine & water!
spacer Charging Basket
Elizabeth from oh fransson! has a nice Charging Basket Tutorial for all of those cords!
spacer Binary Scarf
Christine created this very cool Binary Scarf Pattern for Knitty. She estimates that it holds 122 bytes of data (if you’re unfamiliar with binary digits, click over for a nice explanation).
spacer Computer Keyboard Wallet
Ryan McFarland from www.zieak.com shares this Computer Keyboard Wallet Tutorial on Instructables.
spacer D12 Handbag
Lenore from Evil Mad Scientist Laboratories has a DIY d12 Handbag Tutorial for you. With fabric, iron-on numbers, washers and a magnet you can make a dodecahedral handbag for someone on your holiday list!

Don’t miss these related tutorials from the SMS archives: Tech Gifts.

Here are just a handful of fabrics we love for some of these projects. Click on the fabric images to visit the Sew,Mama,Sew! shop:

spacer Journals from la paperie & cozy
There’s still plenty of time to request a custom journal from Beverly at la paperie & cozy in Nova Scotia. You can probably find the perfect choice in the shop right now too; we love the Einstein journal, but they’re all truly beautiful.

Mix It

spacer Coffee Liqueur
Beth Anne from The Seventh Level of Boredom has a Coffee Liqueur Recipe which she says is, “Irreplaceable in my culinary repertoire…”
