    Love the apron tutorial, and those scrubbies! I may have to learn to crochet quickly – a friend just begged me to make her some, and I had to decline due to my knit-only status.

    I’ve been wanting these patterns forever but can’t bear to spend the money when I know they’d not be a priority (I don’t have kids, just nieces and nephews). BUT! If I win them, I’d HAVE to make the time. It’d be like winning a million dollars and not buying anything. It’s just not possible!

    I just noticed today that I needed to make more vanilla extract. I haven’t been able to find the real stuff here in Austria, so I make it myself. The link to info on various types of vanilla beans was very interesting.

    it’s a tie- i love the frilly apron AND the tin can utensil cover! i think the embroidered whisk just makes it extra kitsch. while i don’t embroider, i’m going to send it along to my mom for a gift idea for me! she loves redworking!!

    I love the whisk on the tin can cover. It would be great to use as covers for my little ones things. You could embroider the item that belongs in the can such as blocks, little people, etc.

    I make kitchen scrubbies every year. Once you wear them out in the kitchen, use them outside when you wasch the car. It won’t scratch the paint. Everyone loves these as a Christmas present.

    Oh the vanilla…I’d been “making” a litre bottle of vanilla since early last spring…and then I went out of town. And my husband called me and told me that the “vanilla rum” I was distilling was the best he’d ever served at cocktails! He & his work friends drank my vanilla! I need to start over…

    We make our own vanilla extract and have done so for years. It makes everything taste so much better than when it is made with “artificial vanilla” and costs much less than buying “pure” vanilla extract.

    Very cool stuff this time. I like the tulle scrubber and the tin can cover. That apron is such a simple design but beautiful results.     With a boyfriend who is a chef I’ve been trying to find kitchen related gifts to make for him. The tin can cover is perfect… I’m thinking the embroidery patterns could also be perfect for a “manly apron”.
