SEAMS TO ME: 24 New Reasons to Love Sewing
by Anna Maria Horner
(Wiley, November, $24.99, ISBN: 978-0-470-25926-9)
From the Publisher:
In SEAMS TO ME, Anna Maria walks the readers through the fundamentals of sewing, offering practical advice on everything from fabric selection to color choices to choosing and buying a sewing machine. While many books offer instruction or patterns, SEAMS TO ME offers both.

Whether you’re a beginner or veteran sewer, the 24 projects in this beautiful book will transform your home and wardrobe into a collection of unique treasures, to be handed down for generations to come.
The mother of five, Anna Maria still finds time to share her thoughts on a blog that attracts more than 100,000 fans per month. One of today’s most refreshing and most notable fabric designers, she has appeared on The Martha Stewart Show and has been featured at numerous exhibitions, including the Surtex art and design show and QuiltMarket.

I love that rocket man – he’s on my list for a gift this year. Most of my kid gifts are from wee wonderfuls patterns. I love her little people.

Hooray! baby items… I have a 2 1/2 yr. old and baby on the way. My toddler will LOVE the rocket man!!!
Wow! I am so excited about these Christmas posts! They are wonderful! I just said the other day that I am done shopping for my nephew, but I may just have to make the Rocket man for him! And I have been trying to find something to make each of my girls, too! These are wonderful ideas!
Hi, I’d love to win Anna Maria Horner’s book!

And who wouldn’t like to win Anna Maria Horners book!!! WOW! Keeping my fingers crossed
I made my 2 year old nephew an “I spy” tube (clear, tough plastic mailing tube with little plastic beads, glitter and some treasures to find as you rotate the tube around – I’ll have to post about it) and have been looking for something else to make for him. Score! That fishing thing is six kinds of awesome and I happen to have the stuff needed to make it already.
The only thing better than giving a cool, thoughtful gift is giving a cool, thoughtful gift for which no shopping whatsoever is required! Many, many thanks!
The rocket is genius. Thanks!

What a clever twist on the classic bean bags! I put mulling spice, lavender, mint, and other herbs in mine and use textural fabric for multi-sensory bags. Now, I need to add that rocket ship to my list just because it’s really cool!!!
The baby blanket is gorgeous, I’ll have to see how difficult the pattern is before I dive in otherwise I’ll end up with a half finished blanket!

i plan on sewing for babies this christmas. homemade is so much more personal.
