Love the cushion…love the idea of using some fat quarters from my stash….
can’t wait for the next project YAY !!!!
The tufted pillow looks so cheery! This might be the perfect pillow for my rocking chair!
Y’know, I’ve never actually been brave enough to buy a fat quarter – people who know about them always seem to know so much about sewing, I’ve felt strangely intimidated! Maybe following this week I’ll be braver..
oooh that tuffed pillow above is just so gorgeous, i’m going to make one!!
I’ve been so excited about this months theme. I can’t wait to see all the tips and projects.
What a fabulous colour and that little dash of turquoise really makes it POP. Looking forward to your month of FQ inspiration.
Oooh, I love orange! And I’m sure most of us need a shot of bright color about now, too. The pillow is adorable =D
I love the idea of a fat quarter month!
The pillow is super cute and use-able. I cant wait to see what else the month brings
Orange – wonderful! Colour of pumpkins, halloween, paw paw, desert sand, mango, turmeric, saffron, burnt toffee, the harvest moon and the welcoming glow from night-lit houses. Could anything give you a warmer feeling? It’s my favourite colour in the world. I think I’m inspired to make a new orange pillow to celebrate.
Troischats
I am a fat quarter junkie. I buy them all the time and don’t use them. I’m happy to see some projects for them.
I LOVE orange. Pick me!
What fun! Projects that are small and quickly done are so rewarding and a nice break from larger ones. I am looking forward to all the great ideas!
I just came across the pattern for these “Blossom Pillows” yesterday and thought that they are so great.

Thanks for the links! Pillows are such great small projects. Really handy are Qillows, Pillows with a blanket in them. I found this tutorial: http://www.sewvac1.com/Library/fleecequillow.htm
Orange is my favorite color and I love the tufted pillow. Thanks for sharing another round of great tutorials.
Yay! So exciting! I need help in this department, you guys rock
Looking forward to Fat Quarter Feb and any and all ideas to use up some of my fat quarter stash!
I am so excited about this February feature. I have loads of fat quarters and this will be perfect to help me put them to good use. I am really looking forward to this.
cute pillow!
thank you for pointing to this pillow, I have always wanted to make one of these!
Love the pillow links! Gives me a great idea of what to do with a mini-quilt top I made last year during quilting month. Thanks!
Great ideas and a great giveaway…what could be better! Thanks!
love the colors on this pillow. Orange is good!
Love the fabric used in the tufted pillow !
I *love* the fabric from “a stitch in dye”! It is always gorgeous. This pillow is so simply lovely!
Thanks so much for sharing all the great projects with us!
That is so cute! Love the simplicity of it!
Oh I love this pillow and I have plenty of fat quarters. Gotta go raid the stash now!
I can always use more fat quarters, especially bright ones!
Kathy B.
Yay! I have lots of fat quarters that need to be included in a project…..
That’s one cool pillow. Would have come in real handy when I recovered all my couch pillows!
I love how the design of the fabric was used for each section, in between the button tucks. And I love the colors of the buttons tie in with the trim.
Oh, I just love those colors– orange and aqua together are so cheerful. Perfect to brighten up a snowy February morning. It makes me want to make a bunch and scatter them around my living room– they’d go perfectly!
Finally! All of those teasers and now it’s here!
I love fat quarter projects! Feb is going to be good month
I am really looking forward to FQ month. I have many that are begging to be “made up.” But I wouldn’t be averse to winning some as well.
I’m so excited about this month’s theme. I really liked the log cabin pillow tutorial. http://www.jcarolinecreative.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Store_Code=JC&Screen=BASPILLOW This is a link to a pattern calculator for constructing pillow backs that I use. I keep envisioning lots of pillow covers to change up the entire look of the Living Room without having to repaint etc.
I love the color combo on that pillow. Orange is one of my favorite things right now.
Oh how I LOVE orange. And fat quarters! And adding to my stash! Looking forward to this month’s projects.
I’m excited for this month’s worth of activities; I’m sure I’ll be inspired in multiple ways. Now I just need to find time to do all the projects I’d like to do.
That’s REALLY cute! Strangely, though, it makes me want some pumpkin pie (maybe I’m just hungry). I love pillows, and that would be PERFECT for my guest room. Thanks for the tutorials!
Oh, I am so excited for all of these tutorials. This is going to be great!
i love this orange pillow – orange is my favourite fabric colour these days – I’m drawn to it like a moth to a flame. An orange one.
Love pillows and love fat quarters!
so cute! what a great idea!
Great pillow tutorials. I have about a zillion fat quarters. I could make enough pillows to fill up a room!
Love the pillow! Funny that you’re giving away ORANGE fat quarters all week because my latest project is ORANGE as well! It will be up soon at http://the6oclockstitch.blogspot.com!
That is a great pillow. I am relly looking forward to this month.
Is it just me and my MacBook? I can’t find a link to the pillow tutorial.
I love the tufted pillow! the buttons look perfect
I have soooo many fat quarters! I look forward to seeing all these creative ideas!
Orange is my favorite color! It make me feel happy!
A chance to win free fat quarters?
And fat quarter projects??
What a great month!
This would be something to do with all those F.Q.s I love but don’t want to cut – yippee!
Orange is my new favourite colour. I’m all about winning this giveaway! I’m really looking forward to this month. It sounds like it’s going to be so awesome!!
I absolutely love the pillow. Orange is one of my all time favorite colors. This pillow would look stunning on our ORANGE sectional! Thanks for the great tutes.
I am so excited about fat quarter month! I can’t wait to see all the ideas!
I love that pillow! Buttons can add such a different feel to a project. So fun!
OOh! I am so excited it’s fat quarter month. I’ve got tons of them and never quite know what to do with ‘em…
Aww! Pillows! I’m gonna be making some new pillows for my girls soon, so this would be a great idea for us.
What a pretty pillow! I do agree that the right fabric makes something stand out!
I don’t even want to tell you how many fat quarters I have. This is going to be so great! Thanks for another fun month.
It’s amazing to see what a difference a new pillow (or two) can do to a drab, winter weary room. I just added one to my bedroom and maybe if I win some new fat quarters, I can add a few to my great room.
So cute!!! I LOVE this pillow. Have been wanting to make some pillows and these would be perfect.
I’m not typically a fat quarter purchaser but more a yard purchaser—-and more if I love the fabric. I mean, I want to be ready to sew anything (short of a bedding).
Orange is a family favorite color since we’re Dutch! Everyone always wonders why we deck out in Orange on 30 April and wish we were part of the crowds celebrating in Amsterdam.
Ooh! Love that FQ pillow – great idea and so simple!
I love this idea for fat quarter projects! Thanks so much!!!
I am intrigued by your Fat Quarter February. I look forward to the month to see everything you have to offer.
I do not have a large stash of FQ’s but I do have the problem of what to do with them.
I’m adding your blog to my blog roll, and am introducing your Fat Quarter February on my blog.
Thank you for providing this information.
-Alice
Oh Orange how i love thee! please count me in!
i love making pillows. here are some with great embroidery done by michele of calico daisy put into some funky log cabin blocks http://tallgrassprairiestudio.blogspot.com/2009/01/keeping-christmas.html, and here are some made from some salvaged antique quilt blocks http://tallgrassprairiestudio.blogspot.com/2008/10/vintage-flower-medallion-pillows.html.
What a fun idea. Looking forward to seeing all the fat quarter projects.
I recently discovered the fun of making pillows! The design possibilities are truly endless. I’ll have to try out that tufted pillow – very cute! I posted a few pics of some recent ones I made: http://freckledbeauties.blogspot.com/2009/01/pillows-galore.html
Oh such a great idea to use fat quarters for pillows! I really love this pillow & want to make some up!
How fun! I love finding ways to use up smaller pieces of fabric!
These are great! Thanks!
I love the orange fabric she used in this pillow! Can’t wait to see what else in is store for us this month. Thanks!
What a clever idea! I don’t know why but the fat quarter just always seems like a piece of fabric for quilting, and nothing else. This is why I read the blogs, to expand my creativity!
Oh man! I have SO many FQs in my stash that I am at a loss as to what to do with. This month is going to be perfect for me!! Love the pillow, can’t wait to see tomorrow’s post!
I’ve never thought of using a FQ for a pillow. What a cool idea!
I adore orange….the pillow is a great use of fat quarters….need to go raid my fat quarter stash now!!
I can’t wait to see what you come up with!! Fat quarters are AWESOME!!
Thank you so much for your daily inspirations.
Fun pillow! I am excited to see what other projects you’ll be sharing. I love little projects that don’t require alot of fabric. I love all the ideas I get here!
Great pillow! I’ve been working on a few made with bridesmaid dresses (I was a bridesmaid in my sisters’ weddings this year & last). Hoping to finish the pillows in time for their anniversaries!
I’m excited for this! I have so many fat quarters hanging around that need a project.
Hooray for February and Hooray for fat quarters!
I love that you are posting things to do with fat quarters because I’ve always seen them and never know what to do with them. I need more ideas like a hole in the head, but I can’t wait to see what’s in store for the month. Love this pillow. Might just have to go pick up some fat quarters so I can make some for the new house I’m moving into!
I love the colors on the pillow. That is so cute.
Fat quarter month sounds awesome! I have so many that I have collected, and there they sit, waiting patiently for me to come play with them.
Thanks for the great ideas!
i knew there was a reason i was saving those special FQ with the brights, great pillow idea.
I’m so excited about Fat Quarter Month! I have a stack just waiting for a project.
I am digging the idea of Fat quarter month. I need projects for my fat quarters. I buy lots of them becasue I love the patterns/prints but I don’t have too much to do with them besides putting them in quilts, which is nice but I like quick easy projects too.
I love the tufted pillow. I have been toying with the idea of adding several pillows to my bed lately and this style would be beautiful.
I have never done a fat quarter project but it sounds fun! I’m ready to jump in and orange is a great color!
Finally!! I can stop feeling so guilty about my FQ stash– which I started collecting before I even started sewing.
This is really cute, and looks really quick, which is very nice! Thanks!
I love the bright orange print. What a quick fun project!
What a cute idea! I can’t wait to see all the different projects to make using fat quarters! The possibilities are endless!
Fun colors on the pillow!
I am LOVING the thought of using fat quarters for projects (especially for pillows I was already determined to make this month). Thanks a million for the help and ideas!
I love thiscushion. I can’t wait to get ideas for using small amounts of fabric.
Last month I made a pillow using three diferent fat quarters two sided for my son. It was a frog that I quilted, he loves frog. Instead of full size quilt I was able to make somthing smaller and quick. I love fat quarters
I love the pillow. That is a wonderful way to use the quarters and I am in desperate need of pillows in my living room.
Wow! Pillows! And Orange fabric! Thanks for the links, tons of inspiration, and I’ve got two orange velvet chairs in desperate need of pillows! Yay!
First time on this site! And it’s my birthday! What perfect inspiration. I’ll be back soon.
I love fat quarters! The more the merrier!
i love orange and this is just so lovely looking with the green buttons…
Fat quarter month is such a great idea! maybe you will have a charm square (or pre-cuts) month??? I love them, but never know quite what to do with them.
Oh, I’m so excited about FQ month!!! I have so many and I’d love some new ideas – and of course, I’d love some more FQs!!!

What a great idea. I love fat quarters and would love to give these to a friend who wears orange everyday!
I too have a fat quarter obsession, though yesterday I decided that I actually am a “collector” – sounds more justifyable, no? Can’t wait to see new and fun fat quarter projects!
Fat Quarter projects are so much fun. I can’t resist buying FQ’s everytime I walk into a Quilt Shop and then I wonder “What will I do with these”?
Thanks for sharing your ideas.
What a great pillow! That is just the update my living room sofa needs.
wow! love thie idea of some fat quarter projects. its going to be a great month
I would never in a million years considered an orange palette until I saw this pillow! Gorgeous! Thanks again SMS for inspiring me!
I love the fabric.
This is a great idea! I am about to redo my oldest daughter’s room and I was wanting to make some simple pillows for it. This will be perfect!
Cute pillow. I love buying (and hopefully using) fat quarters.
How nice to use fat quarters for fun inexpensive projects. Thanks for the idea.
Joy
Love the color combination–especially against the lime wall!
SMS… you always bring a smile to my face!
Fat quarters are such a great way to get MORE fabric! Love the brick pillows you show in the link. I have a log cabin pillow tutorial on my blog too…the first step is here: http://bennyandheidi.blogspot.com/2008/08/how-do-you-make-that.html
And my examples are here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/bennyandheidi/collections/72157608762200292/

Sounds like February is going to be fun! I love orange!
I am in the middle of making a new quilt for my bed. Now I think I will be making some pillows to go with it. I love fat quarters and have waited impatiently for fat quarter month. I wonder if my boss would understand if I had to take a leave of absence for fat quarter month. The job may be interfering with my sewing time.
I’m loving FQ Month…my local quilt shop had a FQ Frenzy Sale 25 for $25…I’m glad I stocked up!
I am so excited about the fat quarter theme! Thanks.

Free Orange Fat Quarters + Month Long Tutorials = Bliss^10
yey!
I love the theme of the month. I love working with fat quarters. My daughter and I love the color orange. I am slowly working on a quilt for her bed using fat quarters. We are trying to incorporate all the colors of the rainbow with different fabrics, textures, and etc.
I don’t have “extra” fat quarters lying around. How does everyone accumulate so much extra fabric? I’m not opposed to buying a fat quarter or two for the right project. This month sounds fun!
I’m looking forward to using my fat quarters. This will be fun!
The pillow looks like a summer’s day.
Oh, I’m sooo excited to make one of these! First thing in the morning I’m headed to the fabric shop.
)~
Beautiful pillow! I never even thought to use FQ for a pillow! Looking forward to more fun stuff the rest of the month…

What a perfect idea! Can’t wait to see the great ideas.
Aiyiyi! That is gorgeous! Tufted pillows! Why did I never think of that?
I love fat quarters!! I cannot wait to see all the ideas to use them up
fun, fun, fun!!!
I can’t wait … and orange is one of my favorite colors!
So cute! I need to get rid of some of the fat quarters in my stash! Bring on the ideas! Thanks!
Ooh thank you, I love that Pillow. Using fat quarters makes it so simple!
I love fat quarter projects! I have a bunch of orange and blue-themed qtrs that I bought for pillows, but I’m widdling them away in other projects – oh well! I really love the tufted pillow!
I love everything A Stitch IN Dye does…what a great start to the month!
yeah! i have so many fat quarters and now lots of to do projects!
I love this pillow! I need a little flare like this in my house. You guys have such a great site/blog. Thanks for the fun.
Oooo! Great theme for the month! I love using fat quarters.
I am loving the idea of fat quarter month! When I go to fabric stores I allow myself to buy one fat quarter to make me feel like I’ve shopped, without exploding my stash – or my budget! The cushion is lovely, looking forward to more projects!
Yay! I’m so excited about this, I always pick up a couple of fat quarters to use “someday.” Looking forward to all the ideas!
I’m so looking forward to all the projects this month, it’s always good to only need a fat quarter too
Cute pillow! February is going to be a fun month!!
How perfect! A friend brought me two beautiful fat quarter packs (one batik and one Amy Butler), *years* ago, but I haven’t used them because I didn’t know what to do with them. A pillow’s not my style, but I’m sure something in a month’s worth of posts will be!
I love fat quaters!!! For some reason, the material is more irresistable in a nice little square!!
Looking forward to this month’s posts!!!
Love this pillow and great idea to use some of my fat quarters!
Still I need some new ones when I have used the ones from my stash – hi hi.
I love the idea of using the fat quarters for pillows. Those little bundles of fabric are so fun to use creatively!
I love fat quarters. I can’t wait to see all the projects.
Please count me in, I would love to win!
Thank you!
I am addicted to fat quarters!! The best way to have lots of options without taking up too much room. (well not really but not as much as yardage does)
Wow, sounds like we have a great month ahead of us!
I’m really looking forward to it.
Great pillow.
I am looking forward to a week of new ideas. I love the pillow, it would look great in my bedroom!
what an exciting month it will be! and i love the color combo on that pillow! so bold!
I’m looking for ways to use up all my random fat quarters I have lying around. They’re such an impulse buy, and I always buy just one or two at a time, and they don’t match anything.
Great ideas! Thanks!
I usually make small coin purses with my fat quarters, so this will be a great opportunity for me to get more ideas!!
I love fat quarters! What a great theme of the month. I like to let my kids pick out novelty fat quarters at our LQS, then I take part of it and make them a napkin for the school lunch, and then take the leftover strip to make a bean bag. Fun!
I’m looking forward to all the FQ projects. I think the orange cushion is adorable.
MaryAnn
That is a great pillow!! Thanks.
Oh, I love this idea. I can’t wait to see what else you guys come up with for fat quarters.
I’m so excited for fat quarters month. I have a few sitting around and could use the inspiration and ideas.
Ohh, I heart fat quarters! I’m afraid of fabric commitment, so I’ve found that fat quarters are a girl’s best friend! I’m totally going to make some pillows for my guest room. (I have a pale green silk duvet in there, so it’s essentially a blank canvas.)
And, I just started to make the Pin Cushion Caddy from Anna Marie Horner’s “Seams to Me” last night. I picked up a bundle of brown FQs for 40 percent off the other day and am using them! Can’t wait for it to be finished.
Love this project! Fat quarters are addictive.
LOVE this month’s theme. Can’t wait to see what else I can do with a fat quarter.
I love that pillow/ cushion idea. I have great fabrics for my daughter’s room and she needs a new cushion for her rocker. Hmmmm
What a cute pillow. My daughter would love it – she loves orange.
Oh, I’m so excited for these tutes! I have a ton of fat quarters!
orange is such a great ‘I wish it were Spring’ colour!
I am loving the orange! Good links, I love the strip pillow covers!
I love the color orange, and this pillow looks great!
xoxo with sharing Fat Quarter love this week on your blog!!
I can’t wait to make one. Thanks again!
We’re supposed to USE fat quarters??! I thought we were just supposed to buy them for their looks! I know I’m not the only one that finds it hard to cut into them, even when I buy them for a specific project, so I’m looking forward to finding some ideas for using up my fat quarter pretties
I love orange!
Can’t wait to hear about the swap!
Very cute pillow .. I love the contrast of the color of the buttons and binding with the fabric color.
I like the idea of a pillow, but I’m more of a pillow form kinda girl
I love making quilts with fat quarters. That pillow is so cute. Love the orange. Thanks for the great idea!
I am excited for FQ month. I hope to add alot of projects to my growing list. I love the fabric on that pillow.
Love the tufting on the pillow — and that’s it’s a fat quarter!
Oooo Orange! Our High School team colors are orange, how perfect! I hope I win!
Thanks!
What a adorable pillow, it make me feel happy and warm
Thanks so very much for sharing.
That is too cute! The colors–ah! Lovely!
looking forward to fat quarter ideas…thanks for sharing
Funny , just today I went & bought fat quaters for the first time to make a bag out of my old jeans. I thought rather then using plain lining I would use nice print fabric. That pillow looks so cute & bright. Will be watching for more projects.
Love the pillow!
I make all my “little” stuff out of fat quarters. Checkbook covers, wallets, fabric animals, pincushions and anything that looks good in patchwork (which is most EVERYTHING!)
adorable and i’m totally obsessed with orange lately…totally doing my first baby’s room decor in “tangerine” and teal. so fun.
I was sent over from “A Good Yarn”. I’m looking forward to seeing fat quarter projects this month as, for some strange reason, I seem to collect them. They are just yummy little bites of fabric that are irresistable – now to figure out what to do with them!
I love how subtle her technique is — It’s not until you get a good close up that you can see how it’s been dyed/quilted. Really impressive work!
That is such a fun pillow! I’m very excited for Fat quarter month!
love this tufted pillow so much….but i can’t see the tutorial link?? or is there one?? help ~ please
I can’t find the pillow on the link given, any ideas why.
Awesome Idea for Fat Quarter month, what a great pillow!
Super cute pillow. I have a confession… I have never purchased a fat quarter. But I think you might just get me hooked!
I have so many fat quarters just waiting to be used in something really creative… I can’t wait to see whats in store this month!
http://sew-funky.blogspot.com
wow what a cute pillow =D I’m in love for the baby booties, I wish I knew someone with a baby to make them xD (I actually know someone but I think I need to stop knitting things for the cute baby
I just want to try out the patterns!)
Oooh orange, how lovely. Please throw my name in the hat.
This is so fun! Great cushion!
I too have been intimidated by fat quarters, but this looks like a great idea!
I love my fat quarters. They hold so much potential. Sometimes it’s hard to cut them up!
Ooh, I’m so excited. I can’t wait to see all the projects!!!
Is it weird that I’ve never sewn with a fat quarter before? I sew a lot, and quilt, but I usually try to thrift or recycled my materials. If something is free, though, well, that’s a diferent story…
What a fun pillow! The color and pattern makes me think of summer and smile
Thanks for the opportunity!
Denise
oh i’m a HUGE fat quarter fan, and our local sewing store just doesn’t have the selection that I’d like…. but I’m loving to see what you do with them! I made a reversible purse for me and a tiny one for my daughter the other day out of two fat quarters… it was so much fun!
Wow, this is fantastic. I am a great gatherer and horder of fat quarters, but can never come up with that ‘perfect’ project in which to use them. Thanks, Sew Mama!
Thank you so much for FQ month! It’s a great idea to get us all inspired.
What amazing and colorful inspiration these pillows are! Most of them look rather difficult to make but I am definitely going to try and make one this week. I have never done free-form quilting so a small project like this would be a good place to start.
I can’t wait to see the tutorials this month!
I have been pillow obsessed for weeks now! Thanks for fueling the fire!
Always such inspiration on your page!
There is so much fabric tempting me to feed my addiction! And orange fabric is SOOOOO tempting; even the sound of the word orange is alluring!
I love fat quarters. I can’t seem to stay away. So square. So ironed, so neatly folded. So cute.
i never know what to do with little bits – that pillow is fabulous!
I love that pillow! The pattern on the fabric kinda looks like cheerios!
I have bought a dozen or so fat quarter packs in blue and have all the pieces cut out for a queen-size Snail’s Trail, now just to get back to piecing with two naughty kittens around….
I am so happy you are having a fat quarter month, this is also my birthday months so that means some extra cash to buy more fat quarters. I love that you can get really expensive fabric in a fat quarter at a great price.
Oh joy — I have lots and lots of fat quarters, bought on sale and for no other reason than I liked the prints. Looking forward to making something useful with all of them.
That pillow is something my grand daughter who is 10 will be making and she is really thrilled to see colors like that. So bright and yet so sophisticated. Never thought of using the color combo like that. Her and I will be shopping for fabrics that will make a statement like the orange, yellow and turquoise. PERFECT
I love the idea of using fat quarters for pillows. Very creative. the fabric is also a wonderful cheerful color.
I linked over here via whip up. I’m so glad I found you! These fat quarter ideas are perfect for my daughter who is just learning to sew.
What a great idea! We all have fat quarters lying about waiting for the right project, and once you use them up, you just have to go and buy some more!! (Love the cushion!)
tich
This makes me want to get out my sewing machine and dust it off. Fun.
I love the tufted pillow, those little buttons really make the pillow. The orange with the turquoise really pops.
Great idea! Looking forward to some wonderful FQ ideas.
