February 4 ~ FQ Project of the Day

Tissue Holders
Travel Tissue Holders by Jen, Jennadesigns

Tissue holders are a nice way to add a splash of color to the mundane. They’re great to have on hand for small gifts, and they make a cold better. Really.

Other tissue holders we love. Although there isn’t a tutorial for this exact project, we found tutorials with similar designs here, here and here.

Share your tissue holder links in the comments below, or point us to related tutorials and inspiration.

Have some fun with Fat Quarters! We’re giving away fat quarter packs all month long. Comment anytime this week to win one of 8 fat quarter packs (6 fat quarters per pack). This week’s FQ giveaway pack prints are predominantly… Orange!

Add pictures of your fat quarter projects to our Sew,Mama,Sew! photo pool. Share your stash photos in our Fabric Stash & Storage pool.

I love tissue holders! As an allergy sufferer, I go through zillions of tissues and besides being cute as heck, tissue holders help keep those travel packs from exploding all over the inside of your bag. And the work to payoff ratio is great: you can zip one up in two minutes and add a lot of charm to a bag set:

These tissue holders are super cute! I have found that the new tissue packs you
buy in the stores open at the top rather than down the middle. I am trying to figure a
different way to make them. They make such sweet gifts for friends, neighbors, get wells,
    etc.

These are so pretty and with cold season around …. these would surely get a work out!!

I have made over 60 of these and they are sweet to keep and give. I like to make mine more ‘boxy’ by squaring off/boxing the corner (about 1/4″ will do it)–before turning right side out. I love seeing the variety of ideas for each subject. Thank you!

I found the Vacuum Queen tissue cover tutorial through your Handmade Holidays 2008 link. I used it very successfully to help my 8-year-old sister make a bunch for Christmas gifts. They were amazingly fast, and a great chance to experiment with fabric/trim combos. And she loved giving something she helped make.

I really like the trim (looks like twill tape?) on this version of tissue covers.

These would make great gifts! Plus they look easy to make.

I will definitely be making my mom one of these. She loves having cute tissues.

I’ve made a handful of these, I even used the idea for a beginners sewing class that I teach. They were so easy that my 6year old wanted to make one for her teacher for valentines day, you can check out my blog at http://makccreations.blogspot.com to see pictures and read more.
