February 12 ~ FQ Project of the Day

Napkins
Reversible Rick Rack Napkins by Ashley, Film in the Fridge

Ashley has a tutorial for her Reversible Rick Rack Napkins. The tutorial is for a 13 1/2″ square, but Ashley writes, “They’d be great as larger napkins as well– 18″ square would be really nice, and then really perfect for fat quarters.”

Other napkins we love. For related tutorials try here, here and here.

Oh, and re: fat quarters and napkins. I usually let my kids pick out novelty fat quarters at the quilting shop. Then, I trim them square and make a napkin with the one piece. With the remaining strip, I make the kids a bean bag! They love to pick out their own designs. I like to use dried lentils in the bean bag.

I like the look of the rick rack trim on these napkins. I also liked the tutorial with the napkins and matching bag to put the napkins in. These would be nice shower, or housewarming gifts. Not to mention going green.
