What a fun, original idea! We’re using an old hardcover book for our mouse pad right now – this would be a much nicer option.

Thanks for all the mouse pad love everyone! For those looking for cork, I used cork placemats from IKEA! I picked up a package of 6 for about $2 with no idea what I’d use them for. They eventually became mousepads. I’ve also see cork at Target near the office supplies.

    Happy Crafting everyone!

This would be great for some college students I know! And much better than the boring black ones–or the cartoon character ones. I haven’t seen any with the mod, funky designs I could make with fabric.

  78. Shannon responds:
    Posted: February 13th, 2009 at 11:32 pm →

Such a great idea! You mean, you don’t have to use the ratty old mouse pads that just seem to appear from nowhere, and usually advertise something? I could actually LIKE my mousepad? Since I seem to spend an insane amount of time at my computer, this could really bring some easy beauty to my desk!

Wow, this makes the folded piece of fabric we use for a mouse pad look quite shabby. Guess I’ll have to transform it. =]

  82. all8 responds:
    Posted: February 14th, 2009 at 7:19 am →

What a great idea! Especially as teacher gifts. Do you think that you could fuse paper too, something like a map? I always come home with blue fabric, so of course, I wouldn’t mind adding to my stash.

  83. lynn whelan responds:

  87. Shelley C responds:

My mouse pad is soooo tired looking! Although it has a Bible verse and I hate covering it or replacing it, it may be time with these neato tutes. Thanks!

  88. Lavina responds:
    Posted: February 14th, 2009 at 10:21 am →

    Great Idea.

  89. Kate M. responds:
    Posted: February 14th, 2009 at 10:33 am →

My desk at work needs a new sunny, happy mouse pad.

  90. Bianca Tovar responds:
    Posted: February 14th, 2009 at 11:04 am →

I’ve also seen cork offered in office supplies stores cheaply in the form of cork tiles that one is supposed to be able to stick to their wall to form a custom Cork Message Board type thing, but that actually never worked out for us. The best adhesive we found stuck to the wall but not the cork. I think it was because the cork was rather thick. This is a really great idea, but I wonder if the fabric would begin to fray in a few months? I’ve never used fusible web, so if it really prevents that, I’m excited to use it. :)

  91. Kaye responds:

Oh, that would be lovely! My mousepad needs a makeover.

  95. Kristen responds:
    Posted: February 14th, 2009 at 11:46 pm →

I LOVE this idea! So functional, and I hate the boring and/or ugly mousepads I usually use. I want one for home, one for the office, maybe even a small one to move room to room with me… So versatile! And I think it would be a great gift idea for coworkers – not too personal, work-related, but still handmade and fun. Yay!

  96. katrin responds:
    Posted: February 15th, 2009 at 7:24 am →

I’ve made a quilted mouse pad a year ago (see it here if you like: http://sew-mad.blogspot.com/2007/11/something-useful.html) but I really like the idea of having a round one. Very pretty!
And you never can have enough of them… one at home and one when you travel…

  97. Beth G. responds:
