I made a few variations of potholders based on the tutorial from My Byrd House this last Christmas and gave them as gifts. I’m a beginner, so instead of using patchwork scraps I used decorative Japanese fabrics for the center fabric and they turned out to be hits! I also stitched a loop of binding into a corner of the binding for hanging and it worked out great. Thanks for listing some others to try in the future!
