I need to make some new potholders for myself. Thanks.
This would be fun to make with the new Fat Quarters I got in the swap!
Ooo! I love making potholders – here’s two I made that I embroidered before sewing – http://www.siblingcraftery.com/2008/12/sewing-surge/ and then some I made for my sil:http://www.siblingcraftery.com/2009/01/jens-birthday-presents/ So quick and easy to make!
I love making pot holders. Thanks for all the great ideas for fat quarters.
I definitely could use new pot holders – my last two don’t look to good!
Wonderful! Thank you! I was just searching for pot holder patterns the other day!
Pretty way to brighten up your kitchen! I can always use potholders. Thanks.
I really love colorful oven mitts. And your right, they look great with matching towels.
making some of these potholders with a table runner would be a cute gift idea. thanks again for inspiration!! not that i don’t already have too many projects going on….
I made a few variations of potholders based on the tutorial from My Byrd House this last Christmas and gave them as gifts. I’m a beginner, so instead of using patchwork scraps I used decorative Japanese fabrics for the center fabric and they turned out to be hits! I also stitched a loop of binding into a corner of the binding for hanging and it worked out great. Thanks for listing some others to try in the future!
These will be the perfect addition to the apron I’m making as a gift, thanks!
o good grief, I never thought about making these. easy.
cute potholders! I like the use of the vintage cocktail napkins!
I just made myself some potholders that were too skinny.
This is giving me incentive to try again. Thanks. Oh, any advice as to what is the best heat-proof lining for these?
I hate my current mass produced pot holders. I would love some that I actually like.
Fabulous! My kitchen needs some style.
Such a great idea, thanks!
Great ideas as always. I’ve been cutting strips to make those patchwork potholders – they’re going to look great!
I tried to make oven mitts a year or so ago and they ended up tiny! Oops. Guess I’ll stick with the potholders.
After this month, I may not have any fat quarters left! Thanks for inspiring me to get busy and organized!!!
Cute! I might have to break down and make a set for my kitchen
i think i need to make some for myself too
Thank you for sharing
I’ve been wanting to make potholders for a while. These ones are so cute!
Here are some I made as Christmas gifts along with coordinating tea towels: http://butterandsugar.blogspot.com/2008/12/handmade-christmas.html
and

These are beautiful – I will certainly be making some of these
very pretty. i make little apron sets for wee chefs, with an apron, potholder + oven mitt. they are a super fun gift! there are a few pics on my flickr http://www.flickr.com/photos/smidgebox/3216906142/in/set-72157612874705784/
This is great. I burn my potholders all the time and constantly have to replace them.
Wouldn’t these be great paired with a couple of the patchwork towels from last week? Too cute!
I agree, I need to make new ones too… mine are ratty and old…and don’t work too well.
Very cute. I love all these small, quick projects with FQs.
My potholders are old and ratty, time to make new ones.
Just the sort of project I’m looking for – quick and useful! I’ve got a serious potholder shortage going on.
I’ve used Bean’s tutorial and it’s awesome. I like the idea of the patchwork front, but the wavy lines quilting in Byrd’s was awesome too.
I’ve been meaning to make some of these, so thanks. This should help!
I ADORE the all the kitchen cuties!! Being in a cute apron that has adorable hot pads and oven mitts to go with it just makes cooking and baking that much more fun!! Thanks so much for all the lovely ideas!
I tried to make oven mitts once and had a real hard time with the thumb joint. Maybe I’ll try this again.
I want some!
GREAT idea. I really need some new pot holders that aren’t filthy. Also, I sent off my fat quarters last week and can’t wait to receive mine!!!
Great way to get items to match your kitchen decor! Thanks.
I’m excited to see this. I really need some new potholders and the patterns look doable even for a newbie.
I love these!
Great use of fat quarters… my pot holders are getting a bit ratty!
this is a great idea! where do you comment to enter to win the fat quarter pack? I’d love to enter! I love this blog… just recently found it and am addicted! thanks for all of your tutorials!
These are super cute! I love projects that use vintage textiles, though I have a hard time cutting or sewing with these fabrics (afraid I’ll “ruin” them somehow!).
Ahh, the luck of the Irish be with me!!!
Perfect! Exactly what I need to make for myself! Thank you!
Oh how cute, those would make such a fun hostess gift!
I’m desperately in need of new potholders and oven mitts. Thanks for the links.
OHHH I hate my potholders. I am embarrased to say they are from my wedding shower almost 12 years ago! I am totally going to make these. Thanks for the inspiration
Katy
I need some new ones myself!
This is on my “to do” list!
yikes, only 4 more fat quarter days.
I need to get on these, mine are looking pretty bad.
I love to make potholders from the rear end of old blue jeans. Some scrappy pieced-together binding makes it really cute.
I’ve been a fan of fabric napkins for years…now I have a use for orphan napkins. Thanks Sew, Mama, Sew!
I am so glad you posted this because yesterday I was searching for tutorials like these…I am hoping to make potholders as gifts for a couple of people so this is perfect.
I am SO in love with the oven mitts I made last month!

The Lizzie Dish fabric is so fun for this project!
I need new potholders and an oven mitt so badly. My current oven mitt has a big hole where my fingers poke out – not safe! Thanks for the ideas and inspiration.
very clever and bound to be welcomed as gifts, would also look great in green
Cute pot holders! Making your own makes it easier to match your kitchen and keep em cute!
I love your site and the patterns you provide.
This sounds like a fairly easy project for beginners like me, definitely will try it out soon.
Received my package of blue fat quarters today, love them completely. The fabrics are WONDERFUL. Thank you, ladies!
cute and practical, what more could you want?
These are so nice…I can do this!
Ha! I just added potholders to our household needs list – guess I’ll be going through the stash instead to whip up a few fresh ones! Thanks again for the inspiration!
Ooh, this is fancy. I just use kitchen towels as pot holders, so now I can make up some actual pot holders!
Such a cute idea, I will have to keep that in mind!
These would be so cute for a bridal shower or a housewarming party. Thanks for the ideas, as always!
cute idea. super easy gifts!
Thanks for all the great FQ ideas.
I have to try. Thanks!
OOooo. Green fat quarters! Now you’re talkin’. Cmon random generator. Mama needs a new set of fat quarters.
I have probably two pot holders to my name, and I’ve been married fifteen years. This would be a good endeavor for me.
I need new potholders like crazy!
Yeah a new potholder pattern to try out!!
This is great. I just got a new machine and maybe I will stitch up some of these to test drive the new Singer!

Sooo great as gifts!
I just made some scrappy pot holders, with scraps left over from FQ projects, and gave them as swap gifts. They were extremely well received!
How cute! Great gift idea! Thanks!!
Freda’s hive @fredashive.blogspot.com has a cute tutorial for pot holders. They are really sweet.
How cute — vintage napkins turned potholders!
Great little tutorial. Thanks, Sonja
I really need some potholders. I just never get around to making them.
My plan is to make pot holders for Christmas gifts this year, thanks for more inspiration. I need to get some of that insulation batting.
hmm… i’m supposed to be sewing exclusively from stash this year. does buying insulated batting really count as fabric shopping?
I am so glad I found your website, this month has been so fun. I have printed out so many great projects to do with fat quarters, now that I know what they are used for!
Thanks for the fun!
I need a fat quarter pack.
I am so excited to know what they are and can’t wait to start using them! Now can you tell us what a “charms” pack is?
These are so adorable…and a much needed addition to my household…they have officially been put on the to-sew list…
Those are really cute! I can’t wait to try to make my own!
Wow, everyone will end up with new kitchen decor. New napkins, table runner, pot holders. I love this month, Thanks.
oh MAN i need to make these! we have none and my normally even-tempered (to a fault) housemate yelled, “i want potholders!” while trying to remove a hot pan from the oven, using a dishtowel as a potholder.
i need some of these! great to have things that are useful everyday on this list.
I want to make oven mitts for my kids’ play kitchen– I’ll have to check out all the tutorials!
I love these posts. They give me so many ideas on how to use some of the fabric I have in fairly simple and easy projects!
A lovely way to brighten up the kitchen.
love the design sponge tutorial!
What a cute and useful idea ! I do need to make some more as my old, ratty ones were thrown out in a kitchen clean-out….(thanks hubby dear !!).
And since pink and green are my favourite colurs thatfat 1/4 bundle would come in very handy !!!
Lovely!! for my new home!!**
I like that she didn’t use binding, makes the project quicker to go! I’ll be trying some of these myself!
What a great idea to use napkins or towels for these cute potholders!
Perfect Christmas gift for my MIL for next year. Thanks for the idea!!!
Good idea! I will have some left overs from the fabric I just bought to make my kitchen curtains.
I think rockin’ potholders are one of the best gifts ever. So useful and way better than most you find in stores. These are great!
How did you know I’m always in need of pot holders? Too perfect!
great project!
After napkins… hot pads!
I love THIS pattern for fingertip oven mitts.
http://www.getcreativeshow.com/seminars/fingermitts.htm
have made a few pairs for me and friends and they all say that is all they use now.
This is awesome. I still have my fall season oven mitts up…from the fall of 2007!!! Ugh! Time to get sewing!
I never thought about making potholders! That would be super fun project…I will have to take a look at the tutorials.
Thanks!
These are adorable… I have some I’m working on right now, but I really like this pattern better. Next time I’m using these ones. Very cute!
oh fun idea!
Ooh, perfect timing! I desperately need to make some new potholders.
This was my Christmas gift for everyone this last year – you can always use more potholders!
